The Cornwall Cricket League Fixtures 2010 have been delayed. A withdrawal by Bude from division 2 in the week before Christmas means the eastern divisions have had to be redrawn and until finalised the fixturing process for the whole league cannot commence.

Cornwall Under 16's / 17's Trials. The first session will be on Saturday 9th January from 9am – 12 noon, sessions will then follow every other Saturday morning after that, e.g. 2nd session being on the 23rd January. If people have any questions regarding these sessions could they please call Sean Hooper on 07782 187463, all players in that age range are welcome to come along and trial.

Camborne Cricket Club are seeking to employ ground staff. The successful applicant will require the skill to prepare two cricket squares for the commencement of the cricket season, maintain them and prepare wickets throughout the season. Volunteers will assist where and when possible. This will be part time employment, with the hours negotiable. If interested, contact Derek Head on 01209/713779 for more details.

After holding their AGM on Sun 6th Dec it was decided that Botallack CC would only be able to field one team for the 2010 season due to players leaving the club in the past 3 weeks so it is with regret that we shall have to withdraw our 2nd XI. 2010 divisions

Cornwall County Cricket Club Honorary Secretary Mrs Anita George MBE, JP has been elected as a Recreational Assembly Representative onto the ECB's Cricket Discipline Commission. The independent Cricket Discipline Commission is the decision making body in relation to any charges brought under the ECB regulations, including the first class game.

The Cornwall Women's Association AGM will take place on Tuesday 8th December 2009 at the Meeting Room at Cornwall Cricket Centre, Truro. The Meeting will start at 7pm. All are welcome to attend. For further details contact the secretary Tamsin Heayn

From Clive Polkinghorne Child Welfare Officer for the West Cornwall Area.

"Clubs are remindered that under the Cornwall league rules, they must have a Child Welfare Officer who has attended a "Time to Listen" course. Many clubs, including some Senior clubs are NOT meeting this requirement; a list has been circulate to clubs recently by Joe Skinner showing those clubs that need to address their problem. If you are one of those clubs; 2 x "Time to Listen" courses have been arranged especially for you by Joe on the 30th November 2009 and 22nd February 2010 so get sign up as soon as possible (see below).

Also remember that where new CWO are appointed at your AGM, you as a club are responsible to make sure they have attended a Time to Listen course and to inform the league, and either Clive Polkinghorne ( West Area) or Dave Dunnett ( East Area) of the change.

Last night a number CWOs and Officers of West clubs attended a CWO meeting, it became apparent that some clubs are confused regarding CRB checks as they feel that if they have them elsewhere it covers cricket - this is untrue.

After you have identified the people within your club that need a CRB check ( this information is on the ECB website) they must have a cricket specific CRB check, this may mean that one has a CRB check with their work, one with the Football Association and another with Cricket. Also clubs are advised to complete CRB checks as soon as possible as next year, sometime: the system will change to include the new ISA check"

Important Notice to All Clubs

An urgent reminder your Child Welfare Officer must be fully qualified before the season starts as per League Rule 7 - failure to do so brings the clubs into potential problems with national legislation and League discipline regulations. Two 'Time to Listen' Courses have been arranged at the Cornwall Cricket Centre at Truro College starting at 6:30pm to 9:30pm as follows:

Course 1 on Monday November 30th 2009.

Course 2 on Monday February 22nd 2010

All affiliated cricket clubs to the Cornwall Cricket League have to have an appointed and fully trained Child Welfare Officer. Any club that does not currently have a trained child welfare officer needs to book and place on one of the two courses. Please complete the booking form (downloadable from this website at http://www.cornwall-cricket.org.uk/ccb_courses.html) to reserve a place on one of the courses.

This will be on a first come first served basis, both courses need to be filled as there are 50 untrained CWO and only 50 places. A club will only be able to train one CWO on these courses to allow all other clubs to apply. For further details contact Joe Skinner Cricket Development Manager, Cornwall Cricket Centre, Truro College, College Rd, Truro, TR1 3XX Email: Joe.Skinner@ecb.co.uk

League Rules Voting Forms As of 9 November only 14 clubs (of 75) have returned their votes. The remainder are reminded the closing date is next Sunday 15 November. Votes received after this date will not be counted. Return to M Evans, League Secretary either by post or email.

The Cornwall Association of Cricket Coaches AGM will be held at the Cornwall Cricket Centre, Truro on Monday 23rd November at 7.30pm. All members are requested to attend and any proposals may be sent to the Chairman Adrian Noott for consideration.

Club Child Welfare Officers are invited to attend the first West Cornwall area club's child welfare officers meeting, would you please also ask your club chair to attend with you as much of the information affects them as well as you. The meeting will be held at Hayle Cricket Club at 7.30pm on Monday 16th November 2009 and I hope that it will last until about 9pm. Hayle has been selected as the venue as it seems equidistant for most clubs. Areas that I hope to cover will include, the role of CW from ECB to club, your league's response to CWO, a report back on the National Conference, CRB checks, any questions and hopefully a case study. Clive Polkinghorne CCB Welfare Officer (West)

One of the characters of Minor Counties cricket and has died. The long serving Secretary of Wales Minor Counties Bill Edwards OBE has passed away at the age of 88. He spent a lifetime in the game and was honoured in 2002 for his services. He ran a sports shop a stones throw away from the St Helens ground in Swansea for 63 years.

Ten team Premier League for 2010 approved

The Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League Management Committee have approved a ten team Premier League for 2010 with Grampound Road and Penzance being promoted and Callington being reprieved relegation. It follows the vote at January's AGM by clubs to increase the number of clubs from eight to ten teams, providing the necessary ground and facility requirements are met. Having already had detailed consultations with both clubs the League will be closely monitoring, and working with them, throughout the winter to ensure the required standard is in place for the start of the season.

The ECB Cornwall Premier League will therefore see a reduction from 21 to 18 games. Teams will play each other home and away. They will be 110 over 'Time' games with the League not commencing until Saturday 22 May. A 50 overs per side cup competition will be played at the start of the season with two groups of five teams playing a round robin competition. Four group games will be played over the opening five match days of the season. The Group winners will go forward to contest an end of season final. The revised season format is similar to that previously used in the inaugural Premier League season in 2001.

Also, as part of the agreed AGM package, an additional 20/20 competition will take place during the second half of the season for Premier and County 1 teams. It will also be played initially in round robin groups (Sundays or mid week by mutual agreement) and will be in addition to the existing Vinter and Hawkey Cup competitions.

As a result of two additional teams in the Premier League Falmouth seconds have been reprieved relegation from County Division 1. Bude, by request, will go down however and are replaced by Division 2 East runners up Menheniot. They are promoted in addition to Beacon and Roche. Division 2 West runners up Rosudgeon declined to opportunity to be considered for promotion.

A number of teams throughout the divisions have also been reprieved relegation as follows: Perranporth, Troon 2, St Day, Mt Ambrose 2, Wendron 2, Bugle, Saltash, Torpoint, Tideford 2 and Boconnoc 2. There are no relegations in Divisions 3 to 6 West inclusive following a vacancy caused by Goldsithney's withdrawal from Division 3 West at the start of the season. Gulval 2 are promoted to Division 5 as, under league rules, St Just 4 cannot be promoted into a division containing its third XI.

Promotions & Relegations:

Premier promoted Grampound Road & Penzance. no relegation.

County 1 promoted Beacon, Roche & Menheniot. relegated Bude only.

Div 2 East promoted St Minver & Boconnoc. relegated Lanhydrock only.

Goldsithney 2, Gerrans 2, St Stephen 2 and Grampound Rd 4 have been accepted into the lower divisions with decisions pending on Penzance 3 and Werrington 5. Full divisions listings will follow after finalising the make up of the lower divisions.

The season commences on Sat 24 April running to Sat 4 September inclusive.

As in 2009 no games are being fixtured on Bank Holiday Monday May 3, apart from Premier Cup games.

The CCB Child Welfare Officers for Cornwall ( Clive Polkinghorne West area and Dave Dunnett East area) are waiting for returns from a questionnaire regarding clubs arrangements regarding their own Child Welfare Officers etc.

To date 10 clubs in the West and 5 clubs in the East have responded. The details required in the questionaire are essential to provide clubs with up to date information and to make sure that clubs are operating safely.

Both of the CWO's are shortly attending a conference in London to gain information regarding new legislation and checks that every club must complete . The CWO's want to share this information with you but without necessary information will have problems. Clubs are requested to return your questionaires completed ASAP.

The Cornwall Cricket Board have upheld an appeal, which allows spin bowler David Neville to transfer from Falmouth to St Austell with immediate effect.

The League Management Committee originally enforced League Rule 15.2.3 which states "no transfer of CCL players to and from Premier and County One clubs shall be permitted during the season, except in exceptional circumstances with approval of the LMC.

Following a disciplinary hearing Crofty/Holman seconds have been deducted 10 points for playing 'Higher tier' players in their game against Goldsithney in Division Six on May 30th contravening Rule 17.4.5. Goldsithney have been awarded 10 additional points.

Troon 3rds have withdrawn from Division 7 West for the 2009 season. Revised fixtures Div 7 West

Troon CC Statement: "Due to a shortage of Senior Players the Club has had to take the unfortunate decision to withdraw the 3rd XI from division 7 West. While we have no shortage of young talent wanting to play, without a core of senior players willing to run the side we cannot proceed. Later in the season we know that more players will be available and the situation would improve, however it was decided that it would be unfair on the other Club's if we were to continually forfeit games. The Club is currently developing a second ground at Troon School which we hope will be ready to use next season. The Club is hoping to re-enter a 3rd XI next season".

Goldsithney have withdrawn from Division Three West of the Jolly’s Drinks Cornwall Cricket League with immediate effect. Following the creation of a new rule in January having withdrawn a team Goldsithney will not be eligible for any promotions or prize monies for its lower team for the current season.
