St Minver withdraw from Div 2

Reluctantly the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League have accepted the request of St Minver CC to withdraw their Division 2 East team and to continue with one team only playing in Division 6 East in 2005. Having lost the majority of their first XI from last season the club feel that the remaining players are not of the standard required to step up five divisions. In the interests of saving the club the LMC have accepted their request but as a result only 11 teams will now play in Division 2 Eest. As divisions may not be altered after the AGM the vacancy means only one team will be relegated from Division 2 East and below this year

The death of one of Cornwall's greatest all round sportsmen, Roger Hosen, has been announced, aged 71. From his club Falmouth he made 64 appearances for Cornwall at cricket between 1955 and 1969. He captained the County Club between 1963 and 1967. He made 1444 runs with a highest score of 100* against Wiltshire in 1962. His stand of 136 with Roy Harris against Dorset at Poole in 1955 (in which he contributed 76) remains the all time 8th wicket record stand for the county. He is the third highest wicket taker for the County following Frank Whiting and Dave Toseland. He took 274 wickets at 19.07. His 8-15 against Dorset at Blandford in 1964 is the tenth best figures in Cornwall history. Following his playing days he was actively involved with the administration of Stithians CC and was long serving club secretary right up to his death.

In rugby, a prolific kicking full back, he made 54 appearances for Cornwall and in a career that saw him play for Penryn, Northampton & Bristol he was capped 10 times by his country and was a Barbarian..
