Cornwall end on a high

Cornwall's cricketers ended their Minor Counties season on a high note, when they won, for the first time ever, on Herefordshire soil in six attempts. After taking a first innings lead of 73 Cornwall made 216 in their second innings with David Roberts making 56. Set 290 to win the home team were dismissed for 224 to give Cornwall victory by 65 runs. Devon's win at Berkshire means they take the Western title and go on to play Lincolnshire in the East v West play off. Cornwall, who finished only 11 points adrift of their cross Tamar rivals, are left to rue the bad weather that effectively denied them the title having had two games abandoned as draws. The County have one more game this year when they travel to Holland to play the C & G Trophy game next Thursday

County Final Venues

The Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League have announced the venues for this season's end of season County Finals to be staged on Saturday 13th September at 1pm. They are: Division 2 - at Roche, Division 3 at Camborne, Division 4 at St Austell, Division 5 at Truro, Division 6 at Menheniot and Division 7 at Hayle

Saltash II withdraw from League

Saltash II have confrimed to the Leagur the following "After a special committee meeting, it has been decided that due to lack of players the second team will have to withdraw from Division 7 East with immedate effect. This decision to withdraw has not been taken lightly but, in fairness to the league, we felt that a decision needed to be made."

Under 21's face tough task

Cornwall Under 21's chances of qualification for the National Q F's suffered a blow on Monday when Devon made it three successive wins with a 7 wicket success over Somerset at Seaton. Somerset 240-4 (Matt Wood 103, Arrul Suppiah 52); Devon 241-3 (Tom Wright 82, Arron Williams 49, Neil Bettis 37 no, Trevor Anning 32 no). Devon need only to beat Dorset on Thursday, who have been heavily defeated in their 3 games to date, to qualify for the national Quarter Finals. If they slip up and Cornwall beat Somerset the Group will be decided on run rate.
