Cheshire have won the Western Minor Counties title. They fell agonisingly two runs short of victory having been set 233 in 33 overs against Wales but with Berkshire only able to draw with Herefordshire, in a game that saw the second day lost to rain, the 10 points proved enough. Cheshire CCC link Final positions Cheshire 100, Devon 91, Berkshire 91 , Cornwall 86, Oxfordshire 78, Shropshire 71, Wales 63, Herefordshire 69, Wiltshire 55, Dorset 43 If Cornwall had won at Cheshire after dominating the first two days (match was drawn after Cornwall had a first innings lead of 193 runs and Cheshire were 141-4 going into the last day) the final table would have read Cornwall 98, Cheshire 96. (Match points instead of being Cheshire 9, Cornwall 12 would have been Cheshire 5, Cornwall 24). C'est la vie!
