Issac Foot Cup Final at Callington C C on Fri 24th August 2007

Launceston 167-3 (J Parsons 64no (inc 6 sixes), L Byron 44, J McCallum 39; A Brenton 1-36),

Luckett 170-7 (19.3 overs) A Berry 45no, A Robins 40, A Brenton 29 (inc 4 sixes); E Coomaraswamy 2-28, Druvie Lorenz-Daniel 2-37).

Luckett beat Launceston by three wickets.

Callington Cricket Club President Sir Robert Hicks adjudicated the Man of the Match and presented the trophies. Man of the Match - Adrian Berry - Luckett Stan Bolitho Cup - Most sixes - John Parsons - Launceston

 

Grampound Road's annual floodlight game on Sunday evening saw a Cornwall XI beat an International XI by 143 runs. Adam Hodgson made 82, Rob Harrison 54 and Tom Sharp 36 in Cornwall's 228 for 8 in their 30 overs. Marlon Franklyn took two for 23 and Mitch Connell two for 49 with a wicket each for Umesh Patwal, Dave Twigg, Elias Tlhabanyane and Ryan Van Wyk. Chris Hunkin then took three for 9 and Alex Smeeth two for 2 as the International XI were bowled out for 85 in just 15 overs. Harrison, Lewis Sanders, Martin Pearce and Ben Smeeth took a wicket apiece. Only Dylan DeBeer with 29 and Kieran Noema-Barnett with 28 got double figures.

Cornwall XI 228-8 (A Hodgson 82, R Harrison 54, T Sharp 36; M Franklyn 2-23, M Connell 2-49),

International XI 85 (D DeBeer 29, K Noema-Barnett 28; C Hunkin 3-9, A Smeeth 2-2). Cornwall won by 143 runs.

 

This website (now in its seventh year equalled its record number of hits in a day last Monday (day after St Just's Cockspur Cup semi-final). The previuos record was set on Monday 23rd July this year (two days after the death of Derek Newman).

 

The venues for the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League County finals on Saturday 8th September have been announced as follows. Division 2 - Wadebridge, Division 3 - Troon, Division 4 - Roche, Division 5 - Hayle , Division 6 - Lanhydrock.

The Jolly's Drinks Complementary Cup Final on Sunday 2nd September will be held at Perranporth.

 

W T Edwards Cup Final at Truro C C

Werrington 144-6 (B Smeeth 30, A Hodgson 28, M Horwell 27; K Noema-Barnett 2-32, M George 2-57);

St Just 118-6 (N Curnow 36, D Roberts 24; B Smeeth 3-20, M Robins 2-12). Werrington beat St Just by 26 runs.

Werrington won the W.T. Edwards Cup for the second time on Thursday evening when they defeated St Just at Truro by 26 runs. Werrington posted the useful total of 144 for 6. Ben Smeeth and Mark Horwell got their side off to a good start adding 61 before Smeeth was caught on the deep square leg boundary for 30 in the tenth over. Horwell was bowled soon after for 27 but Adam Hodgson with 28 off 18 balls kept the momentum going.

In reply David Roberts and Neil Curnow added 71 in 10 overs before Roberts was caught and bowled by Ben Smeeth for 24. Man of the match Smeeth, in a tight spell, then got rid of Andy Birkett (3) and Curnow for 36. St Just, who were missing Gary Thomas, never seriously threatened in the later stages as Smeeth took three for 20 and Matt Robins two for 12.

 

St Just's Cockspur Cup quarter-final at Henley, which was due to be played on Sunday, was called off on Wednesday due to a waterlogged outfield. The ECB have agreed to the game being postponed until 12th August with a home semi-final for the winners on 19th August against Cambridge Granta or Bromley. Grampound Road v St Just on Saturday remains at an 11am start.
