Cornwall County Cricket Club AGM 2006 held at the Municpal Buildings, Truro on 2nd March 2005 Cornwall County Cricket Club has a new Honorary Treasurer. At the club's Annual General Meeting, held at Truro, Douglas Nance stood down after nineteen years in the post. He took over in 1986, following the sudden death of Frank Hobbs. In handing over the financial reins Scillonian born Mr Nance thanked both the committee and players for their help over the years and said he had been proud to represent his native islands. The new Treasurer is Keith Hore J.P., who is the St Austell Club Treasurer and has been involved on the financial side of a number of major County games held at Wheal Eliza in recent years. Doug Nance has agreed to help with the transition by becoming his assistant. He replaces Charles Lovell who, however, remains on the committee. The Captain, Tom Sharp, was re-elected unopposed for a fifth term. Former county captain and team manager Brain Laity has retired from the committee and is replaced by the experienced county player Jonathan Kent.

In presenting his final Treasurer's report Mr Nance reported a significant loss of £9,039 for the year. This was despite an increase in match receipts, thanks mainly to a successful run in the MCCA Trophy. However on the debit side an increase in match expenses, travelling and tour expenses and professional's fees resulted in the substantial deficit. Mr Nance told members "If the trend continues within a very few years the future existence of the club will be very much at stake". He added that the committee had agreed to a number of cost cutting measures across the board. Also the club are looking to increase sponsorship, with donations, however large or small, most welcome. The Chairman, Col. Ronnie Potts, in presenting the Committee's Report reflected on a successful season on the field. The highlights included three MCCA KO Trophy wins before losing the semi-final in Wiltshire. In the championship a good fourth place was achieved, just 14 points behind Western Champions Cheshire. There was a record breaking eight championship centuries hit by Cornish batsmen, including Gary Thomas' all time record thirteenth hundred, in the game with Wales at Camborne. Col. Potts congratulated Chris Hunkin, who enjoyed a fine all round season, and Karl Turner in his debut season. In addition to a fine season behind the stumps, he also hit a memorable century at Camborne after coming in as a nightwatchman. Tom Sharp was presented with the Canynge Caple Cup as the outstanding cricketer of 2005. Dan Jarman (St Austell) was awarded the Canynge Caple Colt's Cup. The Arthur Lugg Cup for outstanding services was presented to Under 21 Development Manager Dick Collins.
