Andy Caddick (below) in 20/20 action for Somerset at Truro on Thursday evening Cornwall put up a fine effort and were in with a chance with 32 needed off 3 overs and 7 wickets left but late wickets from Andy Caddick ensured a victory for the cider county. Somerset 145-8 (B Phillips 29, S Jones 21, C Kieswetter 18, J Francis 17, C Gazzard 13, M Wood 12no; R Driver 2-15, T Sharp 2-21, K Snell 2-26), Cornwall 132-7 (T Sharp 41, A Smeeth 37, R Driver 20; A Caddick 3-22, G Andrew 2-17). Somerset beat Cornwall by 13 runs.
Somerset have named a strong squad for the Dean Dyball Twenty/20 game against Cornwall at Truro this Thursday (2nd August) at 5pm. Marcus Trescothick is not available to play due to injury but is expected to be in attendance to sign autographs. Justin Langer and James Hildreth are being rested but the squad includes the likes of international players Andy Caddick, Ian Blackwell and Charl Willoughby plus Cornishmen Neil Edwards and Carl Gazzard. With proceeds from the game going to Cornwall youth cricket Somerset's Director of Cricket Brian Rose says" We are delighted to support youth development in both Cornwall and Devon which is very important for Somerset and West country professional cricket." Coach Andy Hurry commented " We hope the weather dries up. It could be a new experience for the pros playing on soft, wet pitches." Cornwall have named the majority of the team who played in the Championship game with Oxfordshire last week. Joe Crane replaces Chris Martin and Ryan Driver comes in for Chris Hunkin.
