Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup Final 2005- Mt Ambrose v Porthleven at St Gluvias C.C.on Mon 25th July Mount Ambrose won the Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup for the fourth time, and first since 1993, when they defeated Porthleven by just one run in a thrilling final played at St Gluvias C.C. Having been put in Mount Ambrose got off to a great start with Mike Kent and Paul Rowe adding 63 in the first 9 overs. Rowe was dismissed by Darren Parish for 22 before Kent was caught by Walker off Carvelly for 29 in the 14th over. Simon Johnson made 17 and Ryan Treloar 22 off 26 balls before being run out. Mount Ambrose made 128 for 5 that including a staggering 24 wides. Mike Surtees, Darren Parish and Jeff Carvelly all took a wicket apiece. Porthleven also got off to a good start despite losing Dean Bray for 4. At 42-1 in the 7th over they lost JJ Walker for 17 to Rowe, who then bowled Carvelly for a single at 51-3. Colin Lee joined Andy Bonnett and the pair added 62 for the fourth wicket. 21 were needed off the last three overs but Bonnett was run out for 37, made off 62 balls. Alex Young followed similarly then Lee was crucially bowled by Johnson for 39 to make it 120 for 6. Jason Day followed for 0 and in a tense last over Porthleven just fell short, with Parish 6 not out. David Meneer, representing the sponsors, presented the trophies with Colin Lee of Porthleven receiving the 'Bunny' Williams man of the match award.
