This year's Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup Final at St Gluvias will be between Perranporth and Wendron seconds. Perranporth actually lost their semi-final with Penzance seconds but have been awarded the tie after Penzance had been found to had broken the competition rules. New Zealander Darren Cudby only returned to the Penzance club towards the end of June. Though normally a first team regular he was eligible to play in the seconds having not played three consecutive first XI games. However he had not served the required one month residence competition rule. Cudby played a very influential part in the game making 133 not out with 9 sixes and 10 fours as Penzance made 169 for 4 in their 20 overs. Perranporth made a valiant reply making 151 for 6. Gregg Kerry made 59 and Paul Caldwell 32 not out. Penzance II 169-4 (D Cudby 133no, C Goldsworthy 13; G Kerry 2-31), Perranporth 151-6 (G Kerry 59, P Caldwell 32no, T Gayton 27; J Stevens 2-30, K James 2-35). Match awarded to Perranporth.
Wendron II 95 (B Scoffin 39, S Care 16; N Hill 5-14, S Richards 2-20), Chacewater 91-5 (M Mailling 30, T Armstrong 22; C Martin 2-17, J Searle 2-19). Wendron II beat Chacewater by four runs. Final at St Gluvias C C on Monday 30th July at 6pm. Perranporth v Wendron II Wendron seconds put up a brave fight but were beaten by eight wickets, with ten balls remaining, by Perranporth in Monday night's Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup Final. After the weather of the last couple of months, ironically, the final at St Gluvias Cricket Club was played on the scheduled date under glorious blue skies. Conditions underfoot however bore testament to the recent rains and the St Gluvias club deserve all praise for getting the Kernick Road ground playable. Wendron seconds were put in and got off to a sound start with Brain Scoffin (15) and Dominic Marston (5) putting on 32 for the first wicket. Jeremy Bradley got Perranporth back into the game as he went on to take four for 18 from his five overs. Wendron were 52 for 4 at the half way mark. They all but doubled the total thanks mainly to Sam Care. He was dismissed towards the end, caught behind off a skied catch, for 25 made off 43 balls. The Wendron total of 103 for 8 had been boosted by 34 extras of which a remarkable 21 were wides. Chad Ruddy bowled well to take 1 for 14 from 5 overs. Perranporth lost an early wicket when Theo Gayton was caught in the deep for 0. Wendron were made to pay for dropped chances however. Gregg Kerry was missed twice, including a chance before he scored. He took full advantage to make 50 not out. After John Baker had been bowled for 19 Paul Caldwell made a valuable 23 not out. With three overs remaining 18 were still needed but Kerry and Caldwell settled the issue in the 18th over. Craig Burley took one for 26 and Mike Newbury 1 for 27. Kerry was named the 'Bunny Williams' man of the match as Perranporth repeated their 2003 competition success. David Meneer, representing the sponsors, made the presentations.
