Crofty/Holman won the Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup for the fourth time in Monday evening’s final at St Gluvias Cricket Club. They beat Stithians by 24 runs in a well contested game. The Crofty/Holman innings was dominated by Jason Weeks who hit four sixes and five fours in his 64 not out. Mike Rodwell got rid of Lee Caddy for 14 and Damien Trease for 15. Ben Tann accounted for Alan Shears (15) but Weeks ensured the seven per over run rate was maintained throughout the innings. In the Stithians reply William Thomas made 28 and Mike Creeden 20 as they reached 58 before losing their third wicket. From thereon wickets fell regularly with Weeks taking four for 27 to fully deserve the ‘Bunny Williams Memorial’ Man of the Match award. Crofty/Holman skipper Lee Caddy said afterwards ”I’m delighted for the club and this is hopefully the first of two titles as we are after the league as well. Well done to Stithians and this is one for Timmy Pooley”. Club stalwart Pooley died in March earlier this year. For Stithians it was the conclusion of a memorable run in this year’s competition and despite playing a higher division team they acquitted themselves well in the final.
