Top 4 progress to semi-Finals. Rest to Plate competition.
The County Final of this season's indoor cricket league was played on Sunday 16th February at Tregorrick Park with the East Cornwall champions St Austell CC playing the West Cornwall champions Truro CC. Truro won the toss and put St Austell in to bat and were soon regretting the decision with St Austell progressing quickly to 79 before losing their first wicket and already having both openers retired. St Austell were now able to throw caution to the wind and bat with confidence and although Steve Mankee 4 - 38 bowled well Daniel Jarman well caught by Stuart McNair 37, Mike Bone is best score of the season 45 not out and young Grant Williams 28 not out St Austell amassed a very respectable total of 135 -3 from their 12 overs. Truro in reply made an excellent start to their innings Neil Stoddard batting steadily and Julian Bowes scoring freely and with the score 81 -1 from 7 overs Truro were certainly in with a good chance. The introduction of Stuart Watson into the St Austell bowling attack proved to be the difference, bowling his 3 overs for just 13 runs. With the pressure of requiring to score at 2 runs per ball 5 Truro batsmen were run out and despite the return of Bowes and Stoddard the target proved to be 18 runs to far.
