FIXTURES 2008 LETTER

January 2008

Fixtures 2008

To All Clubs

Please find enclosed the 2008 Draft League Fixture Lists.

1 The Premier League again uses the eight-team matrix where teams play each other three times giving 21 games. The third set of seven games (50 over 'win/lose' games) have again been placed together at the start of the season from 26 April to 31 May inclusive. This is the first of a new two year cycle where the third game venue between clubs alternates. To ensure fairness, and ensure a spread of games across the county each week, the LMC drew new index numbers as opposed to those used in the previous two seasons. Venues will therefore automatically be reversed next year to achieve balance.

2 The twelve-team matrix for all other divisions interlink (with just one unavoidable exception in Division Two West) to the Premier matrix and ensures that 1st & 2nd or 3rd & 4th XIs or ground sharing clubs always have opposite home and away games, irrespective of their division.

3 Division 7 East has only nine teams so four additional 'random' games have been added to give a 20 game season with two byes. Two Sunday fixtures have had to be scheduled to enable this to work. In all divisions: " No team has more than two successive home or away games. With two interlinking matrices it is, unfortunately, unavoidable to have home and away games for every team on Bank Holiday weekends.

" Fixtures are made for Saturdays and Bank Holidays only, as the League Rule 17.2.1 dictates, with the unavoidable exceptions of one Premier League 2nd XI game in Division 2 West and two Division 7 East additional games.

" Requests for 'home' or 'away' games on certain dates, made by some clubs, have been written into the lists. Where home venues have been notified as not being available on certain dates, games will need to be rearranged, and they have been listed as such.

" If a club wants to rearrange any fixture they must mutually agree with their opponents on a suitable date. If clubs require to alter the date of any fixture please contact the opposing club under Rule 17.2.1. If mutually agreed, in writing, please inform League Secretary Michael Evans at the earliest - so the yearbook details can be amended before printing in March. Clubs in the Premier Division and County 1 and Division 2 please also inform the Umpires Appointments Secretary Mr Ron Fenton of any alterations (address in the yearbook).
