2006 Champions - Newquay

Newquay won the Clive Rosevear Insurance Hawkey Cup Final at an overcast St Austell when fhey defeated Werrington by 63 runs. Newquay made 128 for 7 in their 20 overs. It was based on an opening partnership of 84 in 14 overs between Steve Mason and Tim Walton. Alex Smeeth got the breakthrough to bowl Walton for 33. Mason followed for 44 that included 3 sixes and 2 fours. Rob Harrison made 13 and Peter Emery 18 not out with Darren Johns taking 3 for 36.

Werrington got off to a bad start with Mark Horwell being caught behind by Mason off Rob Harrison in the first over. Rob May was run out and when Matt Robins, Adam Hodgson and Ben Smeeth had gone at 39-5 in the 9th over the writing was on the wall. Only Alex Smeeth (11) got into double figures in an uncharacteristic batting display. Neil Ivamy wrapped up the tail to win the Tris Bax Man of the Match award for his 5 for 16 off 4.4 overs. Werrington were bowled out for 65 to give Newquay their third Hawkey Cup victory.

Newquay beat Werrington by 63 runs.
