Premier League Review Sat 26th May - Round 6

 

On a day that saw all four games produce outright winners Truro won the day's top clash at St. Buryan. The home team didn't find it easy after deciding to bat on a pitch still recovering from morning fog/drizzle. Shakil Ahmed held things together with 37 . From 107-8 they recovered thanks to Nick George 34no to make 144 in 57.4 overs. Truro went from 25-1 to 48-3 with Steve Pope run out 30 after the ball deflected to Ahmed who scored with a direct hit. Tom Sharp 19 and Jon Kent 30 took it to 100 but both were out together and it was left to Adam Barber with 33 not out to gain the win. Nick George took 3-52.

St Buryan 144 (4pts) lost to Truro 145-6 (19pts) by 4 wickets

 

Camborne raced to an early win at Helston by 7 wickets shortly after tea. Charlie Shreck followed up his 7 wickets last week with 8 for 26 off 18 overs 7 of which were maidens. Justin Sammons made 38 as Helston mustered 89 in 36 overs. Nigel Dunstan picked up 2-33 as the visitors slipped to 42-3 but in form skipper Barry Purchase 32not out and Peter Davey 28 not out ensured no further alarms.

Helston 89 (1pt) lost to Camborne 95-3 (18pts) by 7 wickets

 

Troon gained a handsome 9 wicket win home to St Just after being set 206. Malcolm Bell produced a fine spell of 3-29 off 18 overs and Martin Strick 3-51 to leave St Just in trouble at 100 for 6 in the 42nd over. Mark Harvey made 29, Graham Trenwith 32 and Ryan Harvey's 24 at the end to put the 200 up. Troon lost skipper Ian Osborne with 11 on the board but Muhammad Khan 89 not out and Martin Jenkin 101 no which included 6 sixes and 8 fours took the home team to a 9 wicket win.

St Just 205-9 (2pts) lost to Troon 209-1 (19pts) by 9 wickets

 

Penzance also had a 9 wicket win at home to Grampound Road. Martin Pearce carried his bat for 60 with a six and 10 fours. Tehir Mehmood took 6-33. Tim Lord 57 no and Scott May 34 put on 79. Then Tony Riggall's 13 no saw Penzance home in the 39th over.

 

Grampound Road 124 (1pt) lost to Penzance 126-1 (20pts) by 9 wickets
