Latest Update 9 July                   2003 Results Summary

Final at Camborne C C on Wed 9 July Perranarworthal v Truro       scorecard

Bottom of County Division 1 side Perranarworthal provided a big upset in the Warrens Vinter Cup Final when they beat favourites Truro by 7 wickets with 4 balls to spare at a sundrenched Camborne. It's the first time a club outside of the top Division has claimed the trophy since Constantine's success 25 years ago. Perran's hero was man of the match Ollie Shilston who cracked a six and 3 fours in his 34 to all but see his side home. Scott Martin (18 no) shared a match winning 61 run stand in 9 overs for the third wicket after opener Mark Mitchell had hit a brisk 20 including a straight six over the pavilion wall. Perran had needed 39 off the last 5 overs but young Shilston grabbed his chance of glory.

Truro's innings was well contained early on with the first five overs only producing 15 runs and included the wicket of Jon Kent (10) who, after hitting 2 fours, was brilliantly caught by a diving Andy Lawrence at long leg following a top edge off Simon Blackburn. Ben Price was also excellently caught by Phil Rees running in from the cover boundary for 24 and Neil Stoddard only lasted 3 balls before he was run out after some more excellent work from Rees in the deep after looking for a second run. Sharp, who was dropped on 27, ended on 45 not out and Julian Bose was 27 not out. 34 came from a productive last 5 overs. In their 5 overs Blackburn took 1-24,and Moore and Bostock only conceded 20 apiece.
