St Just's Gareth May receives the Cup from League President Mike Buzza, a big crowd on a perfect evening

Warrens Vinter Cup Final at Camborne CC on Wed 13th July

St Just 157-4 (G Thomas 73no, N George 28no, D Roberts 23; J Hall 5-0-22-1, D Bostock 4-0-21-1, ),

Camborne 145-7 (I Goldsworthy 37, M Pooley 37, D Mitchell 21no; G Thomas 5-1-22-2, M George 5-0-32-2).

St Just beat Camborne by 12 runs. - Man of the Match Gary Thomas

St Just lifted the Warrens Vinter Cup for the fourth time in five years, in one of the great finals in recent years. A bumper crowd packed the Roskear ground, on a perfect summer's evening and saw over 300 runs scored. St Just's winning margin was just 12 runs. Batting first the St Just innings was saved by an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 83 from Gary Thomas and Nick George. The pair produced a late onslaught, of dramatic proportions, that saw 62 come off the last 3 overs. Thomas hit 26 off the last five balls of the innings from Darren Shorland to boost the total to 157-4. Thomas hit 5 sixes and 5 fours off 50 balls while Nick George thumped two big sixes in his unbeaten 28 of 18 balls.

Earlier Camborne had done well to keep control. St Just lost Neil Curnow caught behind for 18 and David Roberts was smartly stumped by Danny Mitchell for 23. A mini collapse then saw Mark George and Gareth May get ducks to make it 74-4 in the 13th over but Thomas and Nick George transformed the innings.

Camborne made a bright start as Ian Goldsworthy and Kevin Roberts put on 56 in 8 overs before Roberts was caught in the deep for 14. Goldsworthy followed for 37 then the game swung in St Just's favour with Shorland and Hall go cheaply to make it 75-4 in the 13th over just as St Just had been at the same stage. Malcolm Pooley made 37, Tim Edwards 13 and there was a valiant 21no from Danny Mitchell, including two sixes in the last over but the task proved just too much on a night when cricket was the winner.
