First for Cornish Cricket News
Cornwall Schools' Cricket Association Presentation Evening
held at the Ponsmere Hotel, Perranmporth on Sat 6th October 2001
Former Lancashire batsman Andrew Kennedy was the guest of honour at the Cornwall Schools' Cricket Association's twenty-second annual presentation evening held at Perranporth where over 240 people attended.. During his speech Mr Kennedy, who is the present England Under 17 Team Manager, congratulated Michael Munday on being selected for the National Under 17 squad coaching this winter.
The most successful of the teams this year was the Under Twelve's who did particularly well to lead the Taunton festival until the final day. During the week Alex Smeeth scored a century and took a hat trick in the game against Cardiff and followed up a week later with another hat trick against the visiting South African tourists St. Stithians. Another hat trick taker this year was Kelvin Snell who achieved the feat for the Under 13's against Worcestershire, also at Taunton. During the year the Association organised the first Under 10 Festival in the Country held at Treliske School, Truro. The Cornwall team put up a creditable performance in the tournament which was won by Kent.
