Cornwall skipper Gary Thomas to stand down Cornwall County Cricket Club are set to elect a new captain at their Annual General Meeting on 7th March. Gary Thomas, who has skippered the side for the last three seasons, will not be seeking re-election. He has proposed Truro's Tom Sharp to take over the captaincy, which has been seconded by Team Manager Brian Laity. Sharp consolidated his County spot last season playing in all thirteen competitive matches. He was the leading runscorer and made the County's highest individual score in the Championship last season. He also led Truro to the first ECB Cornwall Premier League title. Another change in the offing is that it is proposed that Team Manager Brian Laity and selector (and also a former county captain) Godfrey Furse will swop positions .
Jolly's Drinks Sponsorship continues The Cornwall Cricket League have announced confirmation that their sponsorship with the Jolly's Drinks Group will continue for the 2002 season. The decision was made by Jolly's as a result of the firm, based at Pool, Redruth being sold as going concern last week.

Death of Ken 'Tiger' Bray announced One of the characters of Cornish cricket Kenneth 'Tiger' Bray has passed away at the age of 84. For many years he has held the post of 1st XI scorer at Truro C C and was an ever present in the box last season when they won the first Cornwall Premier League title. Just recently he formally retired fron the position having suffered ill health during the winter. 'Tiger' is the third Premier League scorer to have passed away in recent months following Billy Rogers of St. Buryan and Vyvyan Faull of Troon.
