Top coach job for Peter Bolland The Chairman of the Cornwall Association of Cricket Coaches, Peter Bolland, has been appointed as the new ECB Regional Coach for the West of England and Wales. Peter, an ECB Level 3 coach, takes over from National Coach Keith Tomlins who has moved to a new position at Lord's. Peter will take charge of the West Region Under 13's,14's and 15's, organising their winter coaching programme and running the trial matches and regional games in the summer. The regional sides are made up of the best players from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Somerset, Wales, Wiltshire and the Channel Islands and includes several Cornish boys at U-14 and U-15. The West Region U-15 will be touring the West Indies this Easter leaving on April 9th and playing games in Guyana,Trinidad and Barbados. Peter who is coach at Premier League Champions Newquay received further good news this week when Newquay youngster Joe Crane gained a place on the Somerset County Cricket Club/Richard Huish College, Cricket Academy.

Premier League Fixtures Change of Date Cornwall CCC have made a request that Premier League games scheduled for Sat 19th June be rearranged due to the County having to travel to Luton to play Bedfordshire in the MCCA Trophy on Sunday 20th June. It would avoid players either arriving in, or departing for, Luton around 3 am on the Sunday morning. Sir Tim Rice becomes League Patron In preparation for the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League Centenary in 2005 the lyricist Sir Tim Rice has agreed to become the Patron of the League. An MCC member since 1969 he recently completed a year as President of the MCC, having been a former President of both the Lord's Taverners and the Foundation for Sport and the Arts. He also created his own cricket team - the Heartaches - which have regularly made tours to Cornwall.
Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Limited, based at Pool, Redruth, will continue their sponsorship of the Cornwall Cricket League for a further three years. They have been League sponsors since 1998.
Bruce Nicholls is new League Chairman League Chairman Mr Bruce Nicholls, from Gerrans, has been formally appointed Chairman of the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League, in succession to the late Jan Vatcha, who died over the New Year period. It was agreed at the recent AGM for the League Management Committee to nominate and appoint a successor. Mr Nicholls, a wicket-keeper batsman, played for Cornwall on ten occasions between 1967 and 1973. He followed his father (Arnold) footsteps, in became a league official in 1986 and ran the Hawkey Cup Competition for 15 years before becoming League vice-chairman in 2002. He is also Chairman of the League Grounds Committee. The post of vice-chairman is to be appointed.
Les Driver is new CSCA Chairman At The AGM of the Cornwall Schools Cricket Association Tony Pollard retired after being Chairman for 15 years. In all he served a total of 26 years as an Association Official having been a team Manager for 3 years and vice-chaiman for a further 8 years. The new Chairman is former Truro player and Redruth schoolmaster Les Driver.
