Play for Notts CCC at Falmouth on Tuesday A local cricketer will have the oppotunity to line up along side the professionals in a special benefit match being held at Falmouth Cricket Club at Trescobeas on Tuesday (3rd). The game is between A Nottinghamshire XI and a Cornish XI in aid of Paul Johnson's benefit (Notts CCC), SKYD ( Support Kernow Youth Diabetics) and Prostate Cancer. The game starts at 1.30pm and is of 40 overs per side. £5 adults £2 child/oap. It will be followed by a Dinner - 7.30 for 8 at Green Lawns Hotel (£20 per ticket) being held in the evening and raising money for the PJ Benefit. The Nottinghamshire team includes Paul Johnson (20,000 first class & 10,000 1 day runs), Chris Read, Darren Bicknell, Paul Franks, Cornishman Charlie Shreck, Chris Tolley, Paul Pollard, Neil Burns (who is speaking at dinner ) PLUS THE HIGHEST BIDDER . The highest bidder (before 6pm on Monday) will play in the match for Notts and attend the dinner as a guest. The Cornish XI includes Gary Thomas, Steve Williams, Mark George, Tim Marrion, Stefan Churcher, Anthony Angove, Sean Hooper, David Neville, Mark Burley, Adrian Noott.
The Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League's Management Committee have confirmed that all re-arranged League games must be completed on or before Sunday 12th September - eight days after the last scheduled games. The League Finals take place on Saturday 18th September. Clubs are reminded that games may be reduced, due to a weather delayed start, to a minimum of 24 overs per side
Entries for this winter's Indoor 6 a side competitions are requested please. Last date for entries is 15th September. It is hoped for a continuation of increased participation in the competitions in both the East and west of the county. Edwards Cup Final at St Austell CC A sensational start saw St Just, after being put in, crash to 2-3 in the third over with Thomas, Hall and May all being dismissed for 0 by Malcolm Hooper who was named man of the match. Curnow and Jose put on 70 for the 4th wkt in 13 overs. 'Road ' lost Pearce at 26 then Hunkin in the 10th over at 48-2 but Davey and Harris saw them home without further alarms with almost 4 overs to spare.. Ryan Driver called up for MCCA XI Truro and Cornwall all-rounder Ryan Driver has been selected for the Minor Counties XI to play the MCC in a representative match at the Shenley Cricket Centre in Hertfordshire on Sunday 4th August. Minor Counties XI: Andrew Hall (Cheshire) Capt., James Knott (Beds) wk, Bobby Dawson (Devon), Ryan Driver (Cornwall), Martyn Dobson (Lincs), Richard Harvey (Staffs), Pieter Swanepoel (Cambs), Carl Crowe (Berkshire), Paul Bradshaw (Norfolk), Chris Brown (Norfolk), Shaun Rashid (Beds), Elliot Wilson (Lincs) Special charity match at Camborne There is a special charity cricket match being held at Camborne's Roskear ground this Sunday at 2pm. The Mayor of Camborne, Councillor John Pope, has arranged the game in aid of his nominated charity this year, St Julia's Hospice. His XI will take on a team of predominantly Professionals & Overseas players. It is hoped that Charlie Shreck (Nottinghamshire and formerly Truro and Camborne) will be released to play along with another former Camborne favourite Derek Tate. Somerset's Neil Edwards has also been named. The game is a 25 over match with a raffle, refreshments and barbecue. The Warrens Vinter Cup Final between St Just and Truro, that was postponed yesterday and resheduled for tonight (THUR) , has again been postponed. St Just's Cape Road ground is unplayable following a pitch inspection this morning.. The Final was due to be played on Wednesday 14th July with the Edwards Cup Final, as a result, being put back a week to Wed 21st July. Due to Fog the game was again postponed on Wed 14th and is now rescheduled for Monday 19th July at St Just CC at 6pm There's a special game at Perranporth Cricket Club on Sunday when they take on Australian tourists Warringah, who play in the Sydney Shires Leagues. They run 4 Saturday sides and are on a four week tour of the UK. The fixture at Perranporth is their only game in Cornwall. The game starts at 2.30 pm with a barbecue following
