Vinter & Hawkey Cup Semi-Finals

St Just easily defeated Mullion by 10 wkts with 6overs to spare in the Vinter Cup semi-final at Troon while Troon beat Beacon by 7 wickets with 2 balls to spare in a high scoring thriller at Helston.

Gorran have a crushing win over Bude at Roche and Grampound Road beat St Minver at St Austell in the Clive Rosevear Hawkey Cup semi finals.

Year 6 Schools Festival Results

Following the County Finals day of the Sport Relief Kwik Cricket Year 6 Tournament at St Austell C C on Monday Wadebridge C.P. School and Nancledra School won through to the West Region Finals at the Recreation Ground Newton Abbot on Monday 1st July. Wadebridge, who had won all five group games beat Nancledra (four out of five wins) in the play off for first and second spot. In all twelve schools competed with Sithney C.P. finishing third and Trewirgie Junior fourth.

In the Vodaphone Girls Year 6 Kwik Cricket Tournament Trewirgie Junior won , having won all five group games. In the play off they defeated St Stephen Churchtown CP School who had won four of five group games. Both schools go to the West Region Festival at King's College Taunton on Monday 15th July. Devoran School finished third and Fourlanesend CP School (Caradon) fourth of the twelve schools that made it through  Results

 

29 Day Rule scrapped by LMC

The Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League's Management Committee have rescinded League Rule 4 (g) which states that games postponed must be rearranged and played within 29 days for the remainder of the 2002 season.. The Committee have taken into account the recent poor weather which has resulted in a backlog of approaching 200 games in the League to re-arrange. Clubs are encouraged to reschedule games at the earliest opportunity however and are reminded that all games must be completed by the closing date of the season which is at the close of play on Sunday 8th September.

Fixture Secretaries are reminded to inform the Cornwall Cricket Press Officer Michael Weeks of new dates for inclusion in the press and on the Cornwall Cricket Website. The site includes a full list of known dates.

 

Primary Schools Year 6 Finals

The Year 6 Finals involving 12 teams of boys and 12 teams of girls is due to be held at St Austell CC on Monday 24th June.

National U 13 & 15 Competitions delayed

Due to the recent bad weather, the finals will not now be played on 23rd June. New dates and venue will be announced when finalists are known. Details

Rain decimates Saturday League Programme

The League programme has yet again been severely affected. Four Premier League games managed to start at 1pm but were abandoned within an hour or so. In the west virtually the whole programme was washed out as rain reached most grounds before 2pm. Four of the last five Saturdays have now been affected with only 9 of 25 Premier games completed and 8 of 30 County Division 1 games completed on those Saturdays.

The weather has disrupted the week's Vinter Cup Quarter Finals. Monday's tie withTruro Seconds and Beacon was completed but the St Just v Rosudgeon and Truro v Mullion and Troon v Paul games have been unable to be completed and have been rearranged for the beginning of next week.. More Details

Primary Schools Festivals

Due to the weather new dates have been arranged as follows:

Penwith District Year 6 at St Just Cricket Club is now on Wednesday 19th June and as a result the Year 6 County Finals at St Austell Cricket Club have been put back to Monday 24th June .

The Restormel District Year 6 Festival scheduled has been rearranged for Friday 21st June and is now at the new venue of St Austell CC

 

U13/U15 National Knockout Cups

The National Sunbank Under 15 and Subaru Under 13 competitions have reached the quarter final stage in the County, despite many problems with weather and teams conceding fixtures.

Subaru U13 Quarter Finals:Gorran v Grampound Road ; Falmouth v Redruth ; Newquay v Callington ; Paul v St. Austell.

Sunbank U15 Quarter Finals: Callington v Bude ; St. Austell v Grampound Road ; Beacon v Paul ; Perranarworthal v Truro

The Finals are scheduled for Sunday 23rd June, at a venue to be decided. Competition organiser David Davis would welcome a club, preferably in the middle of the county, to volunteer their services for the two finals, one at 11am, the other at 1pm. Contact on 01872 271890
