Thursday March 15th sees Camborne Cricket Club play host to Bradbury Cricket, suppliers of cricket equipment in England and Australia.

The evening will be run by former Somerset captain and first class cricketer of 13 years, Mike Burns. Burns began his career at Warwickshire as a wicketkeeper-batsman but found opportunities limited and when Dermot Reeve moved to Somerset as their coach in 1997, Burns was one of the first to follow him south. While there was no keeping vacancy, he forced his way into the side as an aggressive batsman whose medium-pace trundlers grew increasingly useful. He became a firm favourite at Taunton, passing 1000 runs in 2002 and 2003, and was appointed captain. When Somerset were relegated from the top flight in 2003 he offered to stand down, but was re-appointed when the county failed to find a suitable replacement. However, when Mark Garaway took over as coach in 2005 he became a victim of the youth policy and decided to retire at the end of the summer. Burns finished his career with 7648 runs, with a highest score of 221 and also took 68 wickets with a best of 6 for 54. Also on hand for advice will be local first class Somerset cricketer, Carl Gazzard who has a first class one day top score of 157.

The evening has been put together by Gazzard and Paul Berryman, who have worked together in Bradbury's appointment as suppliers of new tracksuits, caps, warm up shirts, warm up shorts and after match T Shirts for the first team squad for the forthcoming season. Bradbury are the current sponsors of first class cricketers such as Keith Parsons, John Francis, Arul Suppiah, Gareth Andrew and David Nash. All local cricketers are welcome to come along to purchase their kit for the forthcoming season, with the added incentive of up to 20% discount on the night. The evening begins at 8.00pm. All welcome
