St Austell to host Worcesterhire in the C & G Trophy Cornwall County Cricket Club have announced the venue for next season's Cheltenham & Gloucester 3rd Round tie against Worcestershire, to be played on Wednesday 29th May. The game will take place at St. Austell's Wheal Eliza ground. St Austell successfully staged the visits of Middlesex and Warwickshire in 1995 and 1996. They were narrowly preferred, in a vote by the Club's General Committee, to Truro who staged the tie against Sussex earlier this year
Holmans and Wendron 3rds withdraw from League The Jolly's Drimks Cornwall League has been informed that Holmans (Div 1 West) and Wendron 3rds (Div 7 West) have withdrawn for the 2002 season with Werrington 4ths the only new application to join, which has been accepted by the LMC. Holmans have been ever presents in the League since 1951 and played in Senior Division 1 West for the 16 seasons between 1972 and 1987. It has been agreed that Crofty C C will now play on their ground at Blaythorne. The Cornwall Cricket Board has dismissed an appeal by St Buryan C C following disciplinary actions taken by the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League, as a result of incidents in the Falmouth v St Buryan ECB Premier League match in September. The original rulings were upheld:- 1) The Captain, Mark George is banned from all Cornwall Cricket League competitions for the first two weeks of the 2002 season for breach of League Rule 11 (b) (ii) (Responsibility of Captains to ensure play is within the spirit of the game as well as the laws). 2) St Buryan C C to be deducted 20 points from their Premier League team for the 2002 season 3) A £200 fine imposed on the club
Additionally following St Buryan C C's failure to fulfill it's obligation to field a team for the Wickham Wines Premier League Cup Final v Truro C C , after an appeal the fine of £500 has been increased by an extra £100 as a contribution to the costs of Truro C C . The club's ban from the Cornwall League Knock Out Cup competitions (Premier League Cup and Vinter Cup) will apply for the 2002 season (reduced from 2 years to 1 year only). Also letters of apology are to be written to the League and Truro C C..
Following Hayle C C's failure to fulfill it's obligation to field a team for the Division 1 County Final v Menheniot C C , after an appeal, a fine of £250 has been increased by an extra £100 as a contribution to the costs of Truro C C. Hayle 1st XI are demoted to 6th position in Division 1 West (2001 season) as opposed to the original decision of 12th position. As a result they are not now eligible for promotion to the Premier League but will play in the new County Division 1. Also letters of apology are to be written to the League, Menheniot and Truro C C's. As a result of Hayle's demotion Mullion, who are now placed first in Division 1 West, are promoted to the Premier League along with Division 1 East Champions Menheniot to replace Helston and Penzance. St Ives 2nds have won an appeal for a game not played against Penzance 2nds in Division 4 West and as a result of the 20 pts awarded finished in 6th position.
Rule change proposals voting deadline nears Jolly's Drinks Cornwall League Clubs are reminded that their rule change proposals voting forms must be returned to the League Secretary by Thursday 15th November.
