Cornwall face Cup trips to Norfolk and the Netherlands Cornwall County Cricket Club have been dealt no favours in either of the draws for the MCCA Trophy or the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy (2004) qualifying round next year. They face logistically difficult and expensive trips to Norfolk in the MCCA Trophy in May and to the Netherlands in the C & G Trophy to be played at the end of August. The MCCA Trophy, which is a straight knock out tournament, replaces the ECB 38 Counties competition. The 38 Counties is due to become an Under 21 tournament next year with two over-aged players allowed replacing the existing ECB Under 19 County competition. Cornwall have been drawn to meet joint Minor County Champions Norfolk at Manor Park, Norwich on Sunday 18th May. Norfolk, regretfully, are unable to switch the tie to the Monday. In the draw for the first round of the C & G Trophy (2004), where Cornwall bid to qualify for a tie against a first class county for the fourth successive year, there is an even more daunting trip to negotiate. In a first they have to travel overseas to the Netherlands for a tie due to be played on Thursday 28th August with the Friday a reserve day. CrickInfo Netherlands homepage
