St Just required one point from three games to retain the title.

At the bottom there is 0.0158 of an average point (effectively 1 league point) between Hayle and Camborne with Falmouth effectively less then 7 points off the bottom..

For Hayle to finish above Falmouth they will need 7 points more than Falmouth in the final game or Falmouth need 14pts to guarantee finishing above Hayle if Hayle were to get 20 points.

For Camborne to finish above Hayle they need to get at least 11 points more than Hayle in their last two games then Hayle get in their last game. ie If Hayle got 10 points Camborne would need at least 21

Saturday 26th August

St Just need 19 points for the title. At the bottom Camborne are effectively 10points ahead of Hayle with Falmouth 16 ahead

St Just are almost in touching distance of the title after an eight wicket win at home to bottom side Hayle who made 225 for 9. After losing early wickets Hayle recovered well through Paul Lello (87) and Jason Weeks (47). Nick George took 3 for 47 with Graham Trenwith and Mark George taking two apiece. In reply Gary Thomas made 102 not out and David Roberts 90 as they shared a partnership of 184 for the second wicket. Lee Caddy and Jason Weeks were the wicket-takers.

Truro won at Werrington by 103 runs to move into second spot. Tom Sharp made 41 and Tim Marrion 24 but they were struggling at 93 for 5 before Julian Bose made a valuable 67 off 81 balls to help get the total to 208-8. Adrian Pooley, Darren Johns and Ben Smeeth all took a couple of wickets apiece. Werrington reached 41 before losing their second wicket through Mark Horwell (20) and Ben Smeeth (19). In a collapse Richard Lewis took 5 for 39 and Sharp 4 for 31 with only Adam Hodgson (21) of the rest getting double figures.

Falmouth gained an important win at Grampound Road by seven wickets, with 27 overs to spare. Grampound Road lost Kris Harris to the third ball of the match before Chris Hunkin made 24 but in a collapse they were reduced to 55 for 5. Joe Booth then batted well making 73 to recover the innings to 147 all out. Dave Neville took 3 for 18. Falmouth lost Stefan Churcher in the first over but Sean Hooper (42) and Steve Williams (56) added 88 for the second wicket in just 18 overs. Angove with 34 not out, including 4 sixes, completed victory.

Camborne's relegation fears increased with a seven wicket home defeat to Newquay. After being put in Camborne's Ian Goldsworthy (40) and Nick King (48) put on 99 but good bowling by Godfrey Furse with 2 for 26 off 16 overs put the brakes on. Steve Mitchell took 2 for 29 to restrict the home team to 182-6. Tim Walton (46) and Steve Mason (95) added 134 for Newquay second wicket to set up victory which came with 17 overs to spare

Saturday 19th August

Effectively 2 points between bottom two (Hayle & Falmouth), 11 points bottom three (Camborne), 25 points bottom four (Newquay)

Truro secured mid table safety with a nine wicket win at Hayle. Set 179 they swept to victory by nine wickets with over 14 overs to spare. Jonathan Kent celebrated his recall to Cornwall's championship side with 78 not out while Tom Sharp hit 83 not out in a second wicket unbroken stand of 155 over 31 overs. In a game reduced to 104 overs after a delayed start Hayle, after being put in, got to 107 for 2 in 32 overs with Martin Jenkin (40) and Kevin Jenkin (37) adding 72 for the third wicket. Wickets fell regularly thereafter with Paul Lello's 24 the only major contribution as the innings ended at 178-8 off 52 overs. Tom Sharp picked up 4 for 46 from 15 overs. Richard Lewis had earlier dismissed openers Steve Pollard and Wayne Jenkin to take 2 for 35.

Newquay eased their relegation fears with a five wicket win at Falmouth who were restricted to 143-9 in a game also reduced to 104 overs due to rain. After slipping to 50-4 Sean Turner made 33 and Antony Angove 22 with David Neville hitting 26 not out. Steve Mitchell took 4 for 28 from 11 overs with economic spells from Rob Harrison with 2 for 16 from 10 overs and Godfrey Furse with 2 for 15 from 12 overs. After losing Joe Crane and Furse with 26 on the board Steve Mason hit 48 before Barry Purchase saw his side home with 48 not out with six overs to spare. Duncan Ayres took 2 for 17 from 10 overs. Dave Toseland came out of first XI retirement to take the wicket of Mason at a cost of 44 runs.

Werrington moved back to second spot and increased Camborne's relegation fears with a 66 run home win at Ladycross. Alex Smeeth hit a splendid 111 off 84 balls and added 152 for the fourth wicket with his brother Ben who made 73. Scott Curnow took 3 for 68. Camborne replied with 189 all out. James Gool made 34 with Giles Head, Ian Goldsworthy and Dan Stephens all passing 20. Ben Smeeth took 5 for 49 with Ian Worsnip 2 for 23 off 14 overs and Alex Smeeth 2 for 40.

Saturday 12th August

39 points between 2nd placed Grampound Road and bottom side Hayle. 13 points between the bottom four and two points the bottom two.

Bottom club Hayle recorded an impressive, and vital home win over Falmouth by eight wickets with five overs spare to keep alive their hopes of avoiding the drop. Hayle needed 256 but got home in style with skipper Martin Jenkin striking a superb 86 not out, that included a six and 14 fours. Kevin Jenkin on his return to the side made 24 not out . Earlier Steve Pollard with 48 and an excellent 90 from Wayne Jenkin saw put on 112 for the first wicket in 30 overs. Earlier, for the second successive week, Falmouth's Sean Hooper and Stefan Churcher put on a century opening partnership. They put on 134 before Churcher was caught for 87. Hooper went on to make 72 and Steve Williams 24 as the visitors reached 194-1 with 13 overs to go. Hayle fought back with Paul Lello taking 2 for 28 and Ryan Colyn 2 for 30. With three run outs the innings ended on 255-8.

Truro recorded a seven wicket win at home to Grampound Road who were restricted to 154 for 7 in an innings reduced to 52 overs. After losing Martin Roberts and Chris Hunkin to Richard Lewis in the first three overs the visitors were 51-4 before opener Chris Roberts (36) and Martin Pearce (50) added 59. Lewis took 4 for 51 off 15 overs. Ben Price with 41 not out and Julian Bose (22 not out) saw Truro home after Tim Marrion had made 38 and Jon Kent 20 before retiring hurt.

There was a tight finish at Newquay where the game was drawn. Werrington just failed by three runs to snatch victory with two wickets remaining after 18 were needed off the last over. Newquay made 253-4 with good contributions from Barry Purchase 69no, Steve Mason 67, Tim Walton 52 and Rob Harrison 47. Matt Robins led the visitors reply with 64 with Ben Smeeth making 51 and Adam Hodgson 36. Harrison took 3 for 59.

St Just remain on course for the title with a six wicket home win over Truro. Needing 200 Gary Thomas hit 3 sixes and 15 fours in his 100 not out having added 115 for the second wicket with David Roberts 57. Andrew Libby took 2 for 73. Truro's 199 all out in the last over had been based on Ben Price's 59 with Alex Tunnadine making 53 and Tim Marrion 29. Mark George took 3 for 51 from 16 overs.

Grampound Road move into second spot after their 74 run win at Werrington. Martin Pearce made 49 and Chris Roberts 46 as the visitors made 174-8. Ian Worsnip took 4 for 14 from 16 overs. Werrington were bowled out for 100 by Chris Hunkin who took 5 for 18 from 11.4 overs and Ben Rowse with 2 for 15.

There was a tense finish at Camborne, whose last pair of Scott Harris and Scott Curnow survived the last nine balls to earn a draw with Falmouth. Chasing Falmouth's 227-6 Camborne looked on course as Bronwell Williams (55) and Malcolm Pooley (39) added 97 for the 4th wicket. The stand was broken at 161 with 13 overs to go by Matt Woods who took 3 for 67. Sean Turner ended with for 39 as the visitors almost forced victory. Earlier Falmouth opened with a 107 run stand in 29 overs between Stefan Churcher (55) and Sean Hooper (61). Camborne's slow bowlers Harris and Williams put the brakes on with Harris taking 2 for 41 from his 16 overs. Ryan Edwards held the rest of the innings together with 45.

Newquay gained an important win to move off the bottom of the table when they beat Hayle by 169 runs. Newquay's 257-8 was initially thanks to a 106 run partnership between Rob Harrison (70) and Barry Purchase (58). Dan Davis then made 46 not out. Martin Jenkin took 4 for 56 and Lee Caddy three early wickets for 62. Hayle were shot out for 88 by Neil Ivamy who took 5 for 17 from 11.2 overs with fellow spinners Steve Mitchell and Tom Brooks taking two apiece. Ryan Colyn made 28

Saturday 29th July

For the first time this season rain washed out the entire Premier League programme. There was only a few overs possible in three of the games where both sides took six points each. The exception was at Grampound Road versus St Just, where play was delayed until 1.30pm after morning rain. Just as the players were taking to the field it started raining again and the covers were put back with the game abandoned an hour or so later. Neither side took any points but their season points average, which determines league positions, remains unaltered.

At Hayle only 27 minutes play was possible after a delayed start until 1.30pm. The home team, against Camborne, reached 27-0 off 7.3 overs when the conditions worsened. Play was due to restart around 3.25pm but further heavy showers saw the abandonment twenty minutes later.

It was a similar story at Truro where Newquay were put in. They came off after only four overs, then again two overs later with Newquay 18-0. The abandonment came at 4.15pm.

At Falmouth eleven overs were possible with Werrington 31-0 when play ended. Mark Horwell had made 16 not out and Matt Robins 13 not out.

St Just won their seventh game, to remain clear at the top, by 105 runs at Hayle. St Just made 278-2 after being put in with Gary Thomas making 121 not out and Gavin Edwards 109 not out in an unbroken stand of 240 after openers Dave Roberts (17) and Neil Curnow (19) were dismissed with the score at 38. Opener Steve Pollard made 55 but Hayle were in trouble at 103-6 before Thom Berry made 36 as they were bowled out for 173 in 51 overs. Mark George took 5 for 36 and Dewayne Bowden 3 for 28.

Werrington hold on to second spot after beating Camborne at Ladycross by three wickets. Ian Goldsworthy made 38, Malcolm Pooley 24 and Karl Turner 22 before the last pair of Gary Stephens (20no) and Scott Curnow (20no) on took the total to 155-9. Alex Smeeth took 3 for 27 from 13 overs. Ben (44no) and Alex Smeeth (32) put 53 for the fourth wicket to steer the home team towards victory. Scott Harris took 3 for 25 and Dan Stephens 3 for 35.

Truro won at Falmouth by four wickets with 11overs to spare. Needing 201 they got off to a good start before losing Tim Marrion for 26. Jon Kent with 47 and Ben Price took the total to 130 before the 3rd wicket fell. Price went on to make 69 off 60 balls hitting 6 sixes and 6 fours . Alex Tunnadine made 30 while Dave Neville took 3 for 53. Falmouth had been saved by Sean Turner's 54 as they made 200 off the last ball having been 114-7. Sean Hooper had made 28 and Ryan Edwards 26 before being run out. Tom Sharp took 4 for 51.

Grampound Road won at home to Newquay by 96 runs after scoring 227 for 9. After electing to bat the 'Road' were well served by Andy Pearce (57), Kris Harris (22) and Chris Hunkin 61 reaching 141-1 in the 36th over. Young spinner Tom Brooks took 7 for 76 off 15 overs to get Newquay back into the game. Only Steve Mason with 54 made much impression as the visitors were bowled out for 131 with 4 overs to go. Martin Pearce took 5 for 51 from 16 overs

Saturday 15th July

St Just gave their championship hopes a boost when they defeated nearest rivals Werrington by six wickets with an over to spare at Cape Road. Werrington made 268-7 with Mark Horwell making 104 off 148 balls with 16 fours. He got good support from Matt Robins with 31, Ben Smeeth 28 and the Hodgson brothers Adam and Mark with 24 apiece. Mark George took 3-75 from 15 overs. St Just lost Neil Curnow for 8 but David Roberts 114 and Gary Thomas 88 shared a second wicket stand of exactly 200 before Gareth May (24no) and Mark George (15 no) secured victory with 8 balls to spare.

Bottom club Hayle got a welcome win at Truro after the home club struggled to 199-9 having been 75-5 off 30 overs. Julian Bose (46) and Neil Stoddard (44) added 59 for the 6th wicket before Andrew Libby made a useful 31 not out. Ryan Colyn took 5-50 from 14 overs Wayne Jenkin had to retire after one over having been called back to work. Hayle lost Greg Mungles and Steve Pollard with only 25 on the board but Colyn made 79 before being run out and Martin Jenkin (34) adding 77 for the third wicket. Jason Weeks (43no) saw Hayle home with 12 overs to spare. Alex Taylor took 2-54 from 10 overs.

Newquay and Falmouth fought out a draw after Falmouth totalled 276-9. Sean Hooper made 115 putting on 88 with Stefan Churcher (35) for the first wicket and 96 with Steve Williams (35) for the second. Ryan Edwards made 23 with Lewis O'Mahoney taking 4-41. Newquay struggled as Matt Woods took 5-35 from 16 overs. They looked in danger of defeat at 165-7 but a fighting unbroken eighth wicket partnership of 60 between Steve Chapman (29no) and Neil Ivamy (41no) saved the game.

Camborne and Grampound Road drew at Roskear after the 'Road' made 243-6 with Peter Davey making 90 and Martin Pearce 32. Scott Curnow took 4-66. Camborne reached 220-8 in reply with Malcolm Pooley making 73 and Scott Harris 47 not out.

Tim Walton hit 5 sixes and 16 fours in his 135 not out sharing an unbroken stand of 201 for the third wicket with Barry Purchase, who made 73 not out. Steve Mason earlier hit 45. David Roberts was 54 not out and Gavin Edwards 33 not out when the rains came. Tom Brooks had got rid of Neil Curnow (20) and Gary Thomas.

Werrington's title ambitions suffered a blow at Hayle where their game was abandoned due to rain when they were in the driving seat. Chasing 255 Hayle were 90-4 off 33 overs when the conditions forced the players off the field. Wayne Jenkin had hit 40 with Alex Smeeth taking 2-10 off 9 overs and fellow spinner Matt Robins 1-22 from 13 overs. Werrington's total had been based on opener Mark Horwell's 79 with useful middle order contributions from Alex Smeeth (43) and Mark Hodgson 52 not out. Martin Jenkin took 3-40 and Lee Caddy 3-65.

Falmouth looked to be denied victory at home to Grampound Road when the game was abandoned with Falmouth 19 runs short of victory with 7 wickets and 15 overs remaining. Sean Hooper (43) and Stefan Churcher (62) put on 100 for the first wicket but in worsening conditions rain had the final say. Matt Woods had taken 4-72 and David Neville 3-28 as the'Road' were restricted to 182-9. Chris Hunkin made 57 and Martin Pearce 38 but the innings fell away from 82-2 at one stage.

Truro beat the weather to defeat Camborne by five wickets, after being set 205, thanks to Tom Sharp's explosive innings 115 that included 8 sixes and 10 fours. He added 165 for the third wicket with Alex Tunnadine who made 43. Camborne's 204-9 saw Karl Turner (63) and Bronwell Williams (78) added 115 for the third wicket after they had been 31-2. St Just maintained top spot with a comfortable eight wicket win over visiting Falmouth. Needing 230 they had an opening stand of 160 between David Roberts and Neil Curnow. Roberts was dismissed for 91 before Curnow followed for 85. Gary Thomas (29 no) and Gavin Edwards (16no) completed the victory. Earlier Steve Williams hit 53 before some useful late runs from Duncan Ayres (45no) and Richard Kellow 26 got the total up to 229-6. Mark George and Gary Thomas took two wickets apiece.

Second placed Werrington were made to fight hard for their three wicket win at home to Truro. The visitors made 195-7 with Alex Tunnadine top scoring 76 and Andrew Libby making 22 not out. Werrington lost early wickets but Mark Taylor (46) and Ben Smeeth (26) added 53 for the 5th wicket. Then Alex Smeeth hit a crucial 76 not out adding 80 for the 7th wicket with Taylor. The winning runs came with 5 overs to spare. Richard Lewis took 4-54 and Andrew Libby 2-59

Camborne pulled off a fine 34 run win at home to Newquay. In a dramatic finish skipper Malcolm Pooley trapped last man Jonathan Wills with just 7 balls to go to end with 4-31. Needing 209 Newquay started well with Godfrey Furse and Joe Crane putting on 47. Crane went on to make 53 and Barry Purchase hit 30 but the Camborne bowlers stuck at their task. Earlier Bronwell Williams made 73 and Malcolm Pooley 36, adding 74 for the third wicket, before the innings slipped away to 208 all out. Rob Harrison took 6-55.

Grampound Road recorded a welcome 66 run home win over bottom club Hayle. Grampound Road scored 291 all out thanks to a solid batting effort led by opener Andrew Pearce with 48, Chris Roberts 42, Peter Davey 41, Chris Hunkin 34 and Martin Roberts 31. St Just's unbeaten Premier League run, going back to the 2004 season, finally came to an end yesterday at home to Werrington when they lost by five wickets. Werrington's bowlers set up victory restricting the home team to 177-8. Darren Johns returned figures of 5-36 from 16 overs. David Roberts made 70 and Gareth May 55 not out, adding an unbroken 37 for the ninth wicket with Ryan Davies (8no). Ben Smeeth (39 no) and Mark Hodgson (39no) added an unbroken 68 to secure a famous victory after Rob May made 31, Adam Hodgson 27 and Matt Robins 19. Camborne won by five wickets at Roskear against Falmouth with 4 overs to spare. Needing 226 Camborne reached 117-2 through Ian Goldsworthy (45) and Bronwell Williams who went on to make 85. Kevin Roberts made 31 and Dan Stephens 30 not out, adding an unbroken 45 for the sixth wicket. Falmouth were in all sorts of trouble at 14-4 but recovered superbly through Steve Williams (76) and Sean Hooper, who made 110, to put on 176 for the 5th wicket. Scott Curnow took 3-39 and Malcolm Pooley 3-39. Truro beat Grampound Road by 79 runs after recovering from 48-4 to make 220-8. Jon Kent (84 no) and Julian Bose (40) were chiefly responsible adding 83 for the 5th wicket. Lewis Sanders took 3-70 and Martin Roberts 3-67. Only acting skipper Martin Pearce held up the Truro attack with 30 as the visitors were spun out by Andrew Libby (4-38) and Tom Sharp (2-16) after Alex Taylor and Richard Lewis made early inroads with two wickets apiece. Leaders St Just had to settle for another draw at Truro after the home team made 235-9 in reply to St Just's 288-5. Truro's Tom Sharp made 64, Alex Tunnadine 32 and Neil Stoddard 31 but hopes of a Truro win ended when wickets tumbled. Jon Kent with 48 ensured the draw, being out on the last ball of the match for 48. Dewayne Bowden took 4-36 and Graham Trenwith 3-48. St Just's top order produced the goods again with David Roberts making 92, Gary Thomas 85 and Gavin Edwards 50. Richard Lewis and Tunnadine took two wickets each. Falmouth's good form continued with a seven wicket home win over Werrington. Needing 193 the home team won with over seven overs to spare thanks to an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 105 between Steve Williams (53no) and Antony Angove (70no) after Larry Martin made 18. Earlier Werrington lost Mark Horwell and Alex Smeeth with only 28 on the board to Angove. Adam Hodgson (28) took the total to 88 before Sean Johns (15) added 65 for the fifth wicket with opener Matt Robins. From 167-4 in the 37th over the visitors collapsed losing their last six wickets for 25 runs. Robins (104) completed his maiden premiership century before becoming one of Angove's 6-43 from 12 overs. Hayle won their derby with Camborne by three wickets with 13 balls to spare. Paul Lello was the hero with 84 not out with 2 sixes and 9 fours. Falmouth's openers Larry Martin and Sean Hooper then put on an unbroken 193 to win the game. Camborne won by four wickets at Grampound Road after the home team had set them a target of 252. The home side lost their last five wickets in 22 balls as Werrington won by 46 runs with just 2 balls to spare. Meanwhile Truro won their first game of the season to move above Falmouth who were dismissed for 111 with Ryan Driver taking 6-21. Truro went on to win by 10 wickets.

Hayle then collapsed from a promising 93-1 to end on 152-9 in a tense finish with Godfrey Furse taking 5-40. Werrington won their first game with a seven wicket win at Grampound Road. The home side struggled to 156-8 in their 55 overs. Werrington won by seven wickets with over 14 overs to spare with Matt Robins making 74 not out. Grampound Road made it two wins out of two. They won by 5 wickets at Hayle after being set 163. Skipper Chris Hunkin made 88 not out. St Just won by 30 runs at Falmouth after scoring 188. Falmouth were dismissed for 158 with the George brothers, Nick and Mark taking 4 wickets apiece. Werrington had to be content with a draw at Truro after scoring 218-7. Truro recovered from 46-5 to end on 172-8. Camborne made 220-8 at Newquay who replied with 204-7 to earn a draw in a closely contested game.

Saturday 29th April

There was a full day's play on the opening day of the Jolly's Drinks Cornwall Cricket League season. In the ECB Cornwall Premier League champions St Just had to be content with a draw at Camborme. St Just posted 240-9 with Mark George making 72 and David Roberts 61. Camborne reached 187-4 in reply. Grampound Road took maximum points after a home win over Werrington by 15 runs. The 'Road' made 216-5 with Dave Wilton making 50. In a dramatic finish Werrington were bowled out with 2 balls remaining for 201. Hayle marked their return to the top flight with an excellent win over Falmouth at the Towans. On his return to the Falmouth side Steve Williams hit 70 in their 217-5. Hayle swept to victory by 6 wickets as Kevin Jenkin hit a brilliant 119. Newquay got the best of a draw at Truro. Peter Emery made 87not out in Newquay's big score of 266-5. Truro were hanging on at 168-8 at the end.
