After Falmouth scored 241-7 St Just got home by two wickets with just two balls remaining. Gary Thomas was the hero hitting a boundary in the final over to reach his century. St Just had slipped to 87 for 5 before Mark George (48) combined with Thomas to add 95 for the sixth wicket. He ended on 103 not out that included 15 fours. Dave Neville took a couple of late wickets but with 9 needed off the last over Thomas and Adam Barrett, with a boundary off the fourth ball, secured victory. Antony Angove took three for 67. Earlier Falmouth opener Adrian Noott made 115 before being dismissed off the last ball. Larry Martin made 47 not out adding 107 for the seventh wicket. Mark George took four for 54.Truro maintained second spot after sweeping to a seven wicket win at Paul in a game that was over by tea-time. Paul reached 23 before losing Craig Osborne for 17. Then four wickets fell for just one run with Aaron Pennell getting rid of Ryan Edwards and Justin Stephens while Tom Hyslop was run out. Wickets continued to fall with only Kelvin Snell (21) getting double figures as Paul were dismissed in the 38th over for 72. Aaron Pennell took five for 28 from 15.1 overs and Chris Phillips three for 10. Tom Sharp opened the Truro innings and carried his bat making 44 with nine boundaries. Chris Martin and Ben Price went cheaply with Alex Tunnadine making 12 before being out shortly before victory was gained. Anthony Hosking, Dave Twigg and Stephens all took a wicket. Werrington were held to a draw at Grampound Road after making 246-8. Mark Howell carried his bat reaching 100 not out off the last ball. Mark Hodgson hit 58 with Lewis Sanders and Chris Hunkin taking three wickets apiece. Martin Roberts made 34 and Jamie Trudgeon 22 after Chris Hunkin hit 27 in the 'Road's 137-8 in their 55 overs. Joel Keenan took three for 16 and Darren Johns two for 26. Newquay's game with St Austell was played last Sunday due to the Sports Centre being unavailable yesterday, due to the Rugby Sevens Festival. St Austell got the better of a drawn game. St Just recorded their eighth win of the campaign with a five wicket home success over Newquay. The visitors, who were without skipper Rob Harrison, were restricted to 151-9. They lost Tom Brooks and Scott Steward with only 6 on the board. Joe Crane (19), Adam Cocking (30) and Dan Woollard (45) staged a recovery. Mark George took four for 18 to wreck the middle order while Adam Barrett and Robert Clackworthy took two wickets apiece. David Roberts (50) and Neil Curnow (44) opened with a stand of 91 before Neil Ivamy (3-44) got the breakthrough. Gary Thomas made 32 not out to see victory with over 16 overs to spare. Truro, who were without skipper Tom Sharp, won at Werrington by 24 runs. Despite losing Ben Price to the first ball of the match steady batting saw Truro make 155 all out. Ryan Thomas top scored with 27 with Aaron Pennell and Graham Griffiths making 26. Ben Smeeth took four for 41 with two wickets each for Darren Johns and Seb Street. Werrington got off to a bad start losing Street and Mark Horwell without a run on the board. Matt Robins (26) and Alex Smeeth (39) then put on 77 but once parted the innings fell away. Alex Taylor, Pennell and Andrew Fairman took three wickets apiece. Paul won at Falmouth by two wickets with nine balls to spare in a close encounter. Falmouth did well to recover from 45-6 to make 181. Antony Angove's 76 held things together with vital contributions lower down from George Popperwell (34) and Sean Turner (29). Dave Twigg took four for 28 and opening partner Anthony Hosking three for 30. Tom Hyslop made 59 and Kelvin Snell 53 but it was left to the ninth wicket pair of Dan Magee (15no) and Paul Osborne (6no) to secure the win. Truro recorded the quickest win of the day when they romped to a nine-wicket success at Grampound Road in a game that only lasted 50 overs. The 'Road' were dismissed for 100 after at one stage being 66-3, Mpho Sekhoto making 31. Aaron Pennell took four of the first five wickets and ended with five for 34 from 16 overs. Tom Sharp took four for 11. Tim Marrion (26) added 58 for the first wicket with Chris Martin who went on to hit 47 not out. The winning runs came in the sixteenth over. St Just strengthened their position at the top with a six-wicket win at Werrington. After being put in the home team lost their first four wickets for 39. Mark Hodgson rescued the innings to make 89 not out that included 2 sixes and 10 fours. Joel Keenan made 22 as Werrington reached 178 for 9 in 55 overs. Adam Barrett took four for 43 and Robert Clackworthy two for 28. David Roberts (63) and Neil Curnow (62) added 131 for the first St Just wicket before both were dismissed in the space of six runs. Matt Robins took two for 31 but Gary Thomas (19no) and Gareth May (23no) guided the champions home with over 15 overs to spare. St Austell moved off the bottom with a surprise win at Falmouth. The home side got off to a good start as Adrian Noott (65) and Antony Angove (47) put on 83 for the second wicket after the early loss of Steve Williams. Leaders St Just had a comfortable five wicket win at St Austell to maintain a healthy lead at the top of the table. St Austell were dismissed for 152 in the 49th over. Matt Ellison (18) and Matt Rowe put on 33 for the first wicket. Rowe went on to make 51 before being fourth out with the score at 90. The innings fell away as Adam Barrett took three for 46 and Nick George three for 29. David Roberts (43) and Neil Curnow (25) added 55 before being parted. Gary Thomas and Darren Cudby went cheaply before Gavin Edwards with 39 not out saw St Just home with over 32 overs to spare. James Maycock, on his debut, bowled well to take two for 27. Werrington did well to win at Paul by seven wickets after being set 236. Sebastian Street (85) added 104 for the second wicket with Ben Smeeth (76 not out) before the Smeeth brothers (Alex 44 not out) put on an unbroken 77 to win the game with almost four overs to spare. Falmouth ended Grampound Road's winning run with a four wicket win at Trescobeas to move into second spot. St Just bounced back to winning ways when they avenged their Cockspur Cup defeat last weekend by beating Falmouth by 113 runs. St Just made 243 for 6 with all the top order in the runs. David Roberts (60) and Neil Curnow (40) added 75 for the first wicket. Darren Cudby made 41 with Gary Thomas, Gavin Edwards and Gareth May all reaching 20. Antony Angove took three for 66. Falmouth were dismissed for 130. Gordon Whorlow made 24 but half the side were out for 50. Angove made 37 and Jon Udy 24 to add some respectability at 130 all out. Nick George with three for 12 and Adam Barrett with three for 22 were amongst the wickets. Paul had a comfortable seven wicket home win over St Austell who were dismissed for 112. Only Michael Bone with 48 and Matt Ellison with 26 offered much resistance. The last seven wickets fell for 37. Dave Twigg and Antony Hosking took two wickets each. Craig Osborne (46) and Ryan Edwards (40) put on 94 for the first wicket to seal the game. Sean Hooper then picked up three for 18. Another dramatic last over game at Newquay saw the match tied with Truro. Chasing 155 to win Truro needed seven off the last over but crucially lost Ben Price, caught in the deep for 46. Chris Phillips just managed the two off the last ball from Rob Harrison for the tie. Harrison took two for 23 and Scott Steward two for 37. Tom Sharp made 32 and Neil Stoddard 29. Earlier Joe Crane had made 36, Barry Purchase 26 and Harrison 25 with Graham Griffiths taking four for 46 and Sharp three for 20. St Just dropped their first point of the season but maintained top spot with a convincing 111 run win at St Austell. They were set on their way with a 105 run stand from David Roberts (58) and Neil Curnow (68). They lost four wickets for 44 before Darren Cudby 37, Mark George (24) and Nick George (37) boosted the total to 264-8. Steve Raven took four for 65. St Austell lost three wickets for 26 including Matt Rowe, who was bizarrely caught and bowled via non striker Sean Hooper's elbow, resulting in the captain having to retire hurt until the fall of the eighth wicket. Brayden Hill and Gary Bone both made 31 in the 153-9. Adam Barrett and Mark George took two wickets. Paul lost their first ever home Premier game when Werrington won by 57 runs at Hutchens Park. Mark Horwell (80) and Sebastian Street (72) shared a century opening stand before Matt Robins made 32. Dave Twigg took three for 41 in the 232-7. Falmouth (17 points) beat Truro (six) by one wicket. The first wet Saturday of the season, following rain over the previous 48 hours, saw just one match survive at Grampound Road against St Austell. The games between Werrington and Newquay and St Just and Truro were called off before lunch. Paul travelled to Falmouth but after an inspection at around 2pm the game was cancelled due to conditions being unplayable. In the one game that was started Grampound Road's and St Austell's determination to play was thwarted when their game was abandoned at tea due to rain. Play got underway ninety minutes late with a 40 overs per side game. St Austell were bowled out for 125 with four balls of the innings remaining. St Austell lost their first four wickets for 47 in 15 overs with Tom Turner and Lewis Sanders doing the damage. The St Austell recovery started with Taylor Williams and kiwi Brayden Hill, on his debut, combining to add 26 before Williams was dismissed by Chris Hunkin for 22. Hill, the former Falmouth player, went on to make 38 that included five boundaries before he was run out. No-one else got double figures as Hunkin took three for 15. St Just's great start to the season continued with a third consecutive maximum points win. They won by 117 runs at Newquay with David Roberts again in great form. Opening the innings he was dismissed in the penultimate over for 127 that included 2 sixes and 11 fours. After putting on 64 with Darren Cudby (19) he added 134 for the second wicket with Neil Curnow who made 54 before being run out. St Just reached 256-5 with Rob Harrison taking three for 41. Newquay were dismissed in the last over for 139. Barry Purchase was undefeated on 48 after Joe Crane had earlier made 33. Mark George, Gary Thomas and Robert Clackworthy all took two wickets. Paul remained in second spot after a resounding eight wicket home win over Grampound Road, in a game that only lasted 44 overs. The 'Road' were shot out for 55 inside 29 overs with Craig Osborne taking four for 12 and Anthony Hosking two for 11. In reply Tom Hyslop made 21 and Dave Twigg was 20 not out. Chris Hunkin and Lewis Sanders took the wickets. St Austell won a tight game at home to Falmouth to record their first success. Gordon Whorlow made an unbeaten 85 to anchor the Falmouth innings in their 170 for 5. Opener Steve Williams was next best with 17. Gary Bone took two for 34. A team batting effort got St Austell home by three wickets with an over to spare. Taylor Williams opened with 35 before useful knocks from Mike Bone (24), Rob Coleman (25) and Simon Ellison (26). St Just's great start to the season continued with an eight wicket home win over visiting Werrington. Nick George struck twice in his first over to remove Mark Hodgson and Matt Robins while Ben Smeeth fell with only 10 on the board. Mark Horwell (33) and Alex Smeeth (42) got the total to 129 all out. Gary Thomas picked up three for 21 with two wickets apiece for Nick George, Gareth May and Robert Clackworthy. Kiwi Darren Cudby replaced the absent David Roberts at the top of the order and hit 77 off 86 balls putting on 98 for the first wicket with Neil Curnow (20). Victory came with 13 overs to spare. Paul made it successive wins with a narrow three run success at Newquay. Paul were restricted to 141-8 thanks mainly to Dave Twigg's 33. Openers Dan Smith (19) and Craig Osborne (21) had earlier put on 49. Rob Harrison took three for 25 and Neil Ivamy three for 21. Newquay looked on their way reaching 113 for 2 in the 43rd over thanks to Danny Wollard's 35 and Harrison's 49. The innings fell away as Kelvin Snell took three for 34 and Tom Hyslop two for 21. Off the last over 8 were still needed and four of the last ball but only a single was managed. Truro got their first win by just 14 runs in a low scoring game at St Austell.
