Weather - Fine, sunny cool breeze. Paul opened up a 20 point lead over St Just with two games to play. Paul made 133 all out at neighbours Penzance before dismissing their hosts for just 36 with Matt O' Leary taking 6 for 16. Meanwhile St Just's hopes of a seventh successive title suffered a blow when they were beaten at home by St Austell who made 170 all out. St Just were skittled out for 112 with Andrew Libby taking five for 15. Grampound Road are still in contention after beating Truro by 54 runs. The 'Road' made 197 all out before dismissing Truro for 143. Grampound Road are now 22 points behind Paul ahead of their Holiday Monday clash tomorrow. Callington's hopes were ended by Werrington after Sam Hockin took six for 34 to bowl them out for 111. Werrington replied with 112 for five. In the other game Newquay were all out for 95 and lost to Falmouth by seven wickets. The match of the day between St Just and Truro ended in anti-climax with Truro on 125 for 5 when fog caused an abandonment. Callington are up to fourth after easily winning at Falmouth, who were bowled out for 64. Callington passed the score without loss. Only one innings was possible at Grampound Road. St Austell made 184 for 9 and after only seven balls of Grampound Road’s reply rain stopped play. Werrington’s good end of season form continued with an eight wicket home win over Penzance. Weather Overcast, brighter later. The race for the Jolly's Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League title is boiling up for one of the closest finishes for years after another defeat for the leaders Paul. In an amazing game visiting Werrington were bowled out for 79 with Kelvin Snell and Matt O'Leary taking four wickets each. In reply Paul were shot out for 37 with Sam Hockin taking five for 19. St Just took advantage to move to the top of the table for the first time this year after they drew at Callington. St Just made 228-7 with Callington making 173 for 8 in reply. St Just lead Paul by just one point with four games remaining. Truro are only eleven points off the top after having to dig deep to beat Newquay by two wickets. Corey Harris made 93 in Newquay's 197 all out. Truro reached 200 for 8 thanks to an unbroken ninth wicket stand of 46. Grampound Road took closer order in fourth with a seven wicket win at Penzance. Chris Hunkin took six wickets as Penzance were all out for 133. Grampound Road responded with 136-3. There was a close finish at St Austell where Falmouth lost by just 9 runs. Paul win 5 in a row. CALLINGTON's 100 per cent record came to an end when they were held to a draw by visiting GRAMPOUND ROAD. After losing Danny Lee for 12 and Jake Libby for 8 Dan Davis and Matt Robins took the total to 115 before the fall of the third wicket. Robins fell for 24 to Martin Roberts, who followed up by removing Davis for 61. Luke Davis held the rest of the innings together with 37 not out. Chris Roberts wrapped up the tail taking three for 52 as the innings ended at 192 off 51.2 overs. His father Martin took four for 49. After losing Tom Hughes and Adam Cocking with only four on the board Chris Roberts made 34 but the loss of four wickets for 22 put Callington on top. Martin Roberts denied them the win however making 54 not out and shared an unbroken ninth wicket stand of 21 with Robert Thomas with the innings ending at 149-8. Aiden Libby had tremendous figures of three for eight off ten overs. PAUL are the new leaders after making it five wins in a row with a 40 run win at ST AUSTELL. The visitors batted steadily with Ben Brooks making 46. The innings was given a late boost however as the experience of Justin Stephens (68no) and Neil Pengelly (35) added 65 for the sixth wicket to help them to 228-9 in their 55 overs. David Neville took four for 71 with Andrew Libby and Stefan Churcher taking two apiece. Matt Rowe made 41 and Taylor Williams 40 and at 127 for three the home team were reasonably well placed. Following a slow start the home batsmen were getting into their stride when the weather intervened. After losing Mark Horwell for 2, bowled by Andrew Fairman, the Smeeth brothers took control to put on an unbeaten 134 for the second wicket. Ben made 83 not out off 102 balls with 12 fours while Alex struck four boundaries in his 55 not out. Fairman took one for 27 from 9.3 overs. Weather very warm and sunny. The champions ST JUST got off to a dramatic start in their title defence in a game of 623 runs at TRURO. After being set 312 David Roberts continued his impressive start to the season making 143 before being third out with the score at 272. The visitors required a further 40 off five overs but Gavin Edwards with 86 not out saw them home with four balls to spare. Earlier Gary Thomas made 49 sharing in a second wicket stand of 121 with Roberts, who then added 113 for the third wicket with Edwards. Truro's innings had got off to a great start as Chris Martin (58) and Tim Marrion (72) put on 143 for the first wicket. Tom Sharp then made 84 with Barry Purchase hitting 38 not out. Thomas took four for 85. WERRINGTON won at PENZANCE after posting the big total of 295-2. They were given a great start by Ben Smeeth and Mark Horwell who put on 136 for the first wicket before Horwell was dismissed by Alex Le Friec for 57. Le Friec also accounted for Ben Smeeth who made 89. Alex Smeeth (76no) and Adam Hodgson (52no) then shared an unbroken third wicket stand of 102. Penzance reached 152 before losing their fourth wicket. After Scott May (47) and Arfan Hussein (34) put on 71 for the first wicket Liam Devine made 46. The lower order were shot out by Sam Hockin as he took the last six wickets at a personal cost of 62 runs. Dan Magee made 29 but the innings ended at 209 all out with nine overs remaining. CALLINGTON got off to an impressive start with a 128 run home win over FALMOUTH. 16 year old Jake Libby held the Callington innings together carrying his bat for 108. He put on 71 for the first wicket with Danny Lee (24) and 86 for the second wicket with Dan Davis who made 59. Tom Retallack took three for 52 as the innings ended on 243-7. Falmouth reached 14 before losing four wickets for the addition of only one run. That became 51-6 before opener Adrian Noott single handedly saw the hundred up. He was last man out at 115 having hit 63. Jim Shorten did the early damage taking four for 30. PAUL overwhelmed NEWQUAY at Hutchens Park by 159 runs after scoring 201-8. Ben Brooks made 40 after Andrew Snell opened with 28 and Justin Stephens made 27 and Kelvin Snell 38 in the middle order. Richard Spall and Martin Pearce took three wickets each. Newquay were shot out for 43 with Pearce top scoring with 9. Stephens took three for 7 and Richard Hall three for 9. A high scoring game at ST AUSTELL saw the home team win by five wickets with over five overs to spare after being set 274 to win against GRAMPOUND ROAD. Tom Hughes hit 122 for the visitors getting good support from Chris Hunkin with 52 and Matt Manuell with 28. Spinners Dave Neville and Matt Rowe both took two wickets. St Austell's reply was led by Dan Jarman who made 71 with Taylor Williams making 72 as the home side reached 217 before losing their third wicket. Chris Hunkin took two for 47.
