Anthony Penberthy Benefit Match

Anthony Penberthy hit a century in his benefit game played in his home village of Troon . His Northamptonshire XI beat a Cornwall XI by 180 runs in front of a good crowd as the 2002 cricket season bowed out in superb weather.

Penberthy made 113 that included 5 sixes and 11 fours off 84 balls. After the early loss of Mal Loye for 1, bowled by Paul Berryman the innings was built on an excellent knock from David Roberts. Also returning home the Cornishman hit a 6 and 13 fours in his 80 made off 72 balls. David Capel made 28 and Ben Philips 21 not out. Ben Smeeth took 3 for 41 off his 8 overs.
