Divisions 2008    The result of the one outstanding, rearranged Jolly's Drinks County Division One fixture, that was played on Sat 8 September in the far east of the county between Luckett and Launceston, had ramifications for a number of other clubs countywide. The status of no fewer than eleven other teams across the divisions appear likely to be affected.

Luckett lost by 55 runs but, crucially, got precisely the seven bonus points they required to finish level on 230 points with Redruth. Luckett won seven games to Redruth's six however to leave Redruth occupying the second relegation spot along with bottom club St Gluvias. It throws up a number of complications that the League Management Committee will have to sort out when they formulate the divisions for 2008.

It follows the rule passed last winter to cease the need for the for a club to face a geographical swapping of sections when two teams from the same section get relegated into Division Two East or West. As a result for 2008 only the winning team from each of the Western divisions appear to be guaranteed promotion (grounds permitting). On the other hand in the east section the new rule determines that only one team in each division be relegated to make up for the vacancy with no team coming down from County 1 to Division Two East. To further complicate matters, under the existing rules Redruth seconds, the Division Three West champions, are not allowed promotion into a division containing its own first XI. Also, from Division Three West down only one team is up for relegation following the withdrawal of Mawnan during the season. Additionally a claim that in County 1 Bude contravened League Rule 14 (player eligibility) is also being looked into.

Falmouth Cricket Club has sadly announced the death on Monday of their former chairman Terry Tresize, following illness, at the age of 65. Terry was the leading light in gaining the funding for the recent major improvements to facilities at Falmouth Cricket Club. He was awarded the Cornwall Sports Partnership's Community Volunteer of the Year Award in 2006.
