Devon v Cornwall at Whitchurch on Friday 26th July - Lost by 5 wickets Cornwall travelled to Whitchurch, near Tavistock for their second game to meet Devon. Cornwall were put into bat and struggled in the early overs of the 30 over game. The pairing of the third and fourth bat Clare Noall and Danni Barr proved more succesful with Clare putting 24 on the score before being caught out and Danni adding 19 (including a magnificent 6). Cornwall finished on 107 for 9. Devon came and managed to score at a steady rate, finally passing the score with 8 balls remaining. 108 for 5. The best of Cornwalls bowlers were Danni Barr bowling 6 overs for 12 runs, no wickets and Gemma Richards 6 overs, 3 wickets and 15 runs. The next game is at home at Werrington versus Dorset on the 18th August. Prior to this on the 17th August the squad have been invited to carry out a skills demonstration at the Somerset ground, in Taunton. This is to be quite an event as it will be during the lunch interval of the England v India ladies test match.
Somerset v Cornwall at Queens College , Taunton on Sunday 21st July - Cornwall won Sunday 21st July was a day to remember. The inaugural match for the newly formed Cornwall under 15 girls team, was played out in perfect conditions at Taunton. The sun shone down on the picturesque setting of Queens College, where the 30 over game was to be held . Somerset won the toss and elected to bat first. Cornwall started nervously but soon settled, with Melissa Rowe of Troon taking the first wicket. Somerset were all out for 101 after 27.1 overs. Clare Noall of Mounts Bay School, had an outstanding debut, in her first ever cricket match, taking a hat trick and throwing on to the stumps for a stunning run out. Only 3 of the Somerset team made double figures - Kiri Purssey 32, Sarah Baker 22 and Jess Tratt 20. With 10 of the Cornwall side all bowling at least one over, the best of the figures were as follows Melissa Rowe (Troon) 1 for 6 off 4, 2 maidens, Clare Noall (Mounts Bay School) 3 for 12 off 4.1 overs. Emma Pascoe 2 for 15 off 5 and Gemma Richards 1 for 12 off 4 (Both Rosudgeon). Cornwall went into bat feeling confident, but managed to loose their first wicket with only one run on the board. They steadied their play with skipper Emma Pascoe batting consistently. Clare Noall came in and brought some excitment making a quick 15. As the excitement built, Cornwall levelled the score in the 29th over, and on the last ball of that over Emma Williams (St Just) hit a powerful 4 to win the game. Cornwall batting - Emma Pascoe 26, Clare Noall 15 and Emma Williams 19 not out. Somerset bowling S Baker 2 for 12 off 6, L Gladman 1 for 12 off 6, H Willliams 2 for 43 off 6.
