Women's Indoor Cricket League Feb / March 2004

Six teams competed in this winter's Women's Indoor Cricket League, played over 6 weeks at Truro College, with Rosudgeon B winning the title.

Two league groups comprised of Falmouth, Truro, Rosudgeon A and St Just, Newquay and Rosudgeon B. In the semi-finals Rosudgeon A faced St Just who scored 57 off their eight overs. In what was an exciting finish Rosudgeon passed the score on the final ball of the game.

The other semi-final saw Rosudgeon B beat Falmouth to secure an all Rosudgeon final, and with both sides unbeaten expectations of a close game were high. Rosudgeon B batted first, Viv Searle and Rachael Eustice both retired after making 25. Nicole Richards then took the prized wicket of Adele Jewell which put the pressure back on the batting side. At the end of the eight overs Rosudgeon B had scored 86 for 3. Natasha Weeks took 2-15. Rosudgeon 'A' then took up the challenge with Natasha Weeks and Emma Pascoe scoring well. Some quick fielding afforded the B team 3 run outs which turned the game back in their favour. With one ball remaining the A side were all out for 61 (R Eustice 2-11 F Nicholls 1-18). A great effort by the 'B' side with four of the players under seventeen.

All teams now look forward to the start of the outdoor season, with the Cornwall League having seven sides competing plus three festivals and for the first time this year an Under 15 and Under 13 Tournament. The County fixtures start on May 30th with the Under 15s and Under 17s both playing Devon at Rosudgeon and Penzance respectively. Cornwall Senior matches start in August and will continue through until September.
