Development Plan

LAST YEAR 2000 Generated interest from 8 Clubs

1. Rosudgeon CC                                  2. St Just CC

3. Mount Ambrose CC                          4. Falmouth CC

5. Truro CC                                           6. Tideford CC

7. Callington CC                                     8. Bude CC ·

From these 8 clubs 6 were set to take part in an 8 a side Festival at Treliske School. Unfortunately it was rained off. A new date was set for the following week, but due to short notice only 4 teams could take part. Rosudgeon CC (The Merry Maidens) WON ·

This competition sparked the resurrection of the Cornwall Womens Representative team, and a fixture with Devon, to play for the Devon and Cornwall Shield. First played for in the 70's, last played for in 1994. · The County team was selected from the talent displayed on the day of the festival. Cornwall and Devon played a hard fought game at the Devon County Ground, Exeter. There were 7 runs in it, Cornwall, worthy winners on the day. ·

Since then, volunteers have emerged and we now have the beginnings of a sub-committee. · Peter and I have, with their help, come up with a development plan. Which has already begun.

IN CONCLUSION · Huge thank you to Peter Grant and David Pearce for their fantastic support · Thank you to the Chairman of Truro for the kind offer of their ground for county matches, and training sessions. · Peter and I are happy to establish arrangements and fixtures for the county senior team initially, but are very happy for that responsibility to be taken over at a later date, by the County Board. Thank you for the offer. It's all very new, a great beginning, with plenty of very enthusiastic people willing to drive the game forward. Women and Girl's Cricket in Cornwall will become increasingly popular, and incredibly successful. We are all counting on your continuing support, and guidance.
