Portman Under 15 Final 2005

Grampound Road were convincing winners of the Portman National Under 15 Cornwall Final against Callington played at St Austell. Grampound Road, after being put in, saw Josh Bray Smith and Preston add 80 for the first wicket with some strong stroke play until Bray Smith was run out. Jake Preston took advantage of some fielding lapses to record a great hundred and was well supported by Tom Hughes to take the 'Road' to an imposing total. Following fine penetrative opening spells from Martin Hocking and Tom Turner Callington were never in the hunt and only a classy 29 from Matt Robins ensured respectability in the face of some tight Road bowling.

Grampound Road now meet the Gloucestershire winners at home on Sunday 24 July in the National Stages.

Grampound Road 184-1 (J Preston 101no, T Hughes 37no, J Bray-Smith 33),

Callington 65 (M Robins 29; T Turner 3-13, M Hocking 2-13, L Dingle 2-5).

Grampound Road beat Callington by 119 runs.
